hardpack!!! no installation, no tuning, no clutching for elevation. just wait for spring and hit your favorite climb:) just hope you keep going up, today king kat ron found out what its like to go backwards, without reverse...

Wont happen unless...

Your going downhill, on the flat, or have a 1 in track on it.
My speedwerx big bore cat (990) on made 59-60 with 195+ hp with 50/50 110. Good luck, John

I will probably get ripped for saying this but I built a do everything sled, starting point was a 08 XP TNT at 400lbs.

Ending point is a 450 lb full wet mtn sled, trail sled, crossover sled etc. with a 41 lb 16 X 137 X 1.75 track. For comparison a stock 154X should be around 523 lbs full wet.

First run in the mtns without much tuning, just guessing at Grand Mesa, CO, 10,000 ft about 30 degrees in 20 inch of fresh from night before on 8 to 10 ft base, flat open meadows about 1/2 mile runs possible would hit 40 to 43 mph immediately and climb in overdrive and then a little overwind to 55 mph when I had to stop for the trees.

I think made possible by very light track, short paddles and very light sled that treds very lightly in the powder and a 8 lb primary clutch. It has the same flotation on the track as a 154X but a bunch better flotation on the front end as the front end is 40 to 50 lbs lighter than the 154X

Good Luck

I would think a 800R with a 146 track set up well for clutching would exceed 60 mph under those same conditions, at least it better or if it was mine it would be gone.

Not too sure what exactly you mean when you say the 137 and the 154 have the same flotation on the track? How are you calculating this?

You could tow it behind a turbo Yammie! Otherwise, good luck. In the steep and deep, it takes about 230+ hp to get 60mph track speeds. You need 300+hp to get into the 70s. On flat ground though, which I hear people talking about, I got over a hundred stock. Turboed on flat hard pack, I see 135+.

i think some people are reading between the lines on his post

i think he was stating that the sled didn't make it up the hill and with the hard snow he couldn't stick it and it slide all the way down the hill

if you want 60 + mph you need horse power. Just clutching an xp will not get you to that speed in real snow. If your talking had pack buy a short track.

i meant it was soooo icy that day my track speed when climbing was 60mph+, spinning all the way:) king kat ron got about half way up one climb and lost his mo, tried to stick it but was too hardpacked. so he went down backwards, the only thing that saved his sled was he kept hitting the throttle to help slow his decent!!! and i thought the M7's had no reverse...
