Just got back from 3 days in the Snowys. Conditions there are wonderful. Rode Thurs, Fri, Sat. First 2 days out of Green Rock above Centennial and the last day out of Albany. It had snowed about 2 feet on Monday and Tuesday just before we got there. We rode in untracked 1 to 2 feet of meadow snow all 3 days with sunny skies and temps in the 40s and 50s. Base was between 3 and 8 feet by my estimation. Where the Hills states their base in inches, they state theirs in feet. No real worries about hitting any land mines. Many 500+ foot hills to climb and a few that no one got up all week. Their trails are groomed 6 days a week and although the trails are not marked as well as the Hills they do a very good job at grooming. The USFS people we talked to said they will probably try and groom through April and maybe into May. A few hard cores find snow to do a little riding on July 4. Go there a few times and it is easy to get spoiled.
Sorry I posted this but someone had to have a great week of sledding. Point is, blow past the Hills and give the Snowy Range a try. There is still time this year.
