Hey Guys, posting this for my boss trying to help him out a bit! he has a trip planned for Albany leaving Christmas day, but he does have until Monday to cancel. (as I know snow isn't the best there right now)
-so what im wondering is where is a good place for him to go to get to decent snow? they are experienced riders but mostly fast trail riding/light off trail riding.
he is open to basically anywhere in Wyoming so any info would be great!

Thanks!
-Nolan

Based on your description of the kind of riding they are looking for and the current snow levels around the state I would stick with Albany. The snowies have enough snow to trail ride and they will likely get more snow in the next 13 days. There is a system coming through this weekend that's calling for 6-10" for that area and also temps getting back closer to normal.

The places that have more/better snow conditions right now are not places that have the trail system that the snowies have. Eric

They're forecasting 6-10" through Sunday. There's talk of another small storm late next week, and the long range models are suggesting a change in weather pattern for the better right around Christmas time (not a guarantee but encouraging). This is based of Joel Gratz (OpenSnow) forecasting for Colorado; his forecasts for northern CO are more relevant for the Snowies than anything else I've found. So I wouldn't bail on Albany, I bet it would be a fun trip yet.

Consider NW Colorado

Might not be the riding you want as we are mostly deep powder back country/boondocking but we are worth looking into.

It looks like WY is where your boss rides, but if he or anyone you know would ever want to go to NW CO please look us up.

For anyone looking for an untracked/unpacked ride in/out from the front door cabin experience this message contains lots of links and info. We have a four bedroom/3.5 bath 3500 SF secluded mountain cabin with availability from Feb 4-17 and in March too.

On Monday (Jan 12), Wild Skies' Cabin rentals (90 minutes SW of Steamboat Springs, CO) received 18" of snow on the mountain top. Which brings our seasons snowfall total to 16 feet.

On Monday (Jan 12), only two others riders up there outside our group of four (over 235,000+ acres of snowmobiling terrain). Great riding and spectacular scenery. Can see Steamboat Ski Resort from a few miles south of the cabin. Still have Feb 4-17 available for rent and our Craig, CO location has great availability in 5 different cabins just a 15 minute drive to the trailhead at Black Mountain (Western side of Steamboat Lake).

See Oct and December issues of Snowest for details on the riding in each location. I am not only attaching the Snowest article links but also a video link of our cabin and terrain, and a link to Lane Lindstrom’s Blog post about our area (He is the Editor of Snowest and was visiting on March 10, 2014) and I am also including a link to a video taken March 19th by some of our snowmobilers from S. Dakota that rented our place and weather and avalanche info for our area.
