Thinking about getting a hotel Wednesday and Thursday night in Bend to go to hoodoo Thursday (never been there) and then going to Dutchman Flats on Friday (never been there) and I guess you can snowmobile to some lodge and have lunch? Ever been there? any suggestions would be appreciated from the experienced. Thank you ...

Never been to HooDoo. Bachelor is great fun, but Dutchman fills up very quickly so get there early - oh, and there's usually a couple subaru's stuck at the entrance, trying to get into or out of 2-3 parking spots, and at the exit.

Elk Lake Lodge is the lunch spot - good food and warm fire - worth the trail slog to get there.

There is no reason to drive from Bend to Hoodoo. If you're set on riding 2 different places, ride Bachelor one day and Paulina the other.

Thank you for taking the time to answer this thread. When you say be there early do you have a specific time in mind? It doesn't matter to me really its not very early to me but to some people 9 o'clock is early LOL. Thank you again ....

Early would be like, before 8, and maybe even before 7:30. Dutchman fills up really fast and really early - especially if you have a trailer. There are other sno-parks that aren't far away though if you can't get in at Dutchman.

Weekends and holidays, Dutchman is full by 7:30, if you have deck often you can squeeze a spot..kapka snopark always has plenty of parking.

Paulina Lake is south of bend and has a lodge for lunch also. 10 mile snopark is the snopark for Paulina, if your riding with your wife the views from the peak can't be beat on a clear day.

Dutchman and Paulina...

I know not of this Paulina you speak of ?

X3 on what the others said regarding parking at the Dutchman lot especially if you have a big trailer. IMO, It's not worth the gas to drive up there unless you can be there by 7:30am. As mentioned, there are the Kapka and the Wanoga Sno-Parks both of which are close by and offer a lot more room for trailers...:eyebrows:

Paulina Lake is located in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument. The 10 Mile Sno-Park is located 13 miles east of US Hwy 97 on FS Rd 21 about 16 miles NE of La Pine or 34 miles SE of Bend. The Lodgepole Dodgers Snowmobile Club http://www.lapinedodgerssnow.org/default.aspx does an excellent job of maintaining the trail system AND the FS Rd 21 up to the Sno-Park. The Lodgepole Dodgers Snowmobile Club is hosting the 2017 OSSA Convention in La Pine on January 11th - 16th, 2017. It looks like they have lots of fun stuff to do.

Well thank you, this really got my gears turning. Is 10 Mile Sno Park Easy to get parking in or is it another one of those have to get there early spots? Maybe get hotel in Lapine?

Between Hoodoo, Paulina and Dutchman Flats, Paulina is by far the best when there is 12" or more of fresh powder. Hoodoo is pretty small and all trails. Dutchman competes for the same trails and one hill as 2 other snow parks, which fills up with the Bend area riders.

No, the 10 Mile Sno-Park has plenty of room for parking which should allow you to not have to rush to get there at the crack of dawn.

You may be able to find more affordable lodging in La Pine compared to what is available in Bend, but you will have less options for food and/or other activities.

Bach was bumper to bumper at 10-25 mph all the way up and down to the snowpark yesterday. Took us 55 minutes to go 18 miles. The snow and bluebird skies sure were nice:)

Holiday week

Welcome to Central Oregon on a Holiday week...:face-icon-small-win The crazy traffic, not to mention the $hitty drivers, is just another reason I avoid the Bachelor area when it's tourist season.

Thanks for sharing the photos, it looks like you had a great day weather AND snow wise. Have fun while your here and enjoy the good snow! :smow:

Hoping to be at 10 mile snow park Wednesday. Trail ride on trail #1 ? To the restaurant/store ? Continue on trail #1 past the lakes and to the end- China Hat? Hopefully find play areas on the way? Coming with warmest clothes!
so, made reservations to stay close by the night before and after. We can't leave Salem till about 10 a.m. on Tuesday so I'm looking for a spot on the way between the two places I can be pulling in around 12 o'clock for a couple hours (and find easy parking for SUV with a lightweight two place open trailer) before we head to hotel. Benson snow park - hoo doo? Maybe Dutchman flat might be ok during the week since it's after the holiday at noon? (And would the lodge be open?) Trying to go back H26 over mt.Hood on Thursday and if our luck holds find. A third spot. Not Hood. Never been to these places before let alone snowmobile we're pumped!
going to be clear - night ride :eyebrows:
