ZX motor into XP?

I have a buddy who blew up his '07xp 800. He's a riding buddy and doesn't have a ton of cash. I have an '02 zx 700 motor that has all new parts inside. Is it possible to put it into his XP without jimmy rigging it too badly?

Thanks for any information on this,
Brandon

Motor swap

I don't know what it would take to swap the motors without looking at a Rev chassis and the zx side by side....
I think the rev chassis came out in 2003. So there might not be too much difference between the two motors (Mounting). There is a lot of difference in the suspension and chassis design. The XP's didn't come out until 2008. I also don't know how many engine changes there were from 2003 to 2007. In 2007 they did come out with the '800r' engine which from what I understand is the same as the xp engines. I know it isn't much help as one year to the next can have a lot of changes especially when it comes to new chassis designs.
A few things to look at before you jump in...
Electrical plugs/splicing
Pipe and can rework
Engine motor mounts/cradle
Clutch alignment and distance
Good luck

well lets see

the old ZX mxz 700 engine is the same lower end as the 600ho in the REV chassis
and the 800r powertek engine was in the 07 REV chassis and XP chassis

in theory it should bolt right up. id use a 800r pipe from the XP

POWERMODZ put a 700 in a rev. He got the reverse to work too. Of course it could be done in an xp. Seems cheaper to just rebuild his motor. Unless its a total loss. I think the 600 pipe would work better than the 8
