Yamaha Sno Sport Mod

Its F^$^$&^$% raining here! All the snow / cold fronts are is moving up inside of NL (Ontario is a have province again) so we are getting the shaft - above freezing and rain. Hopefully in the New Year .... I'll post the pics & vids as soon as the sleds come out of the shed .... in the meantime, the toy box / shed is getting bigger - new 20' x 25 room just for the sleds.

Does anybody know the inside measurement of the frame/bulkhead. On a scootIs there not enough room to trim a regular track down on each side without cutting into the windows. Sure you could safely cut width down to 11.5 inches.

My impression is that they cut one entire side off, punch new holes and clip those to match the rail width and tunnel width.

Year old but gotta keep this going. Need to get track for my snow sport. Looking at a 114" to cut down.

I have a sport torn apart on my bench right now . Putting on a 114 x 3/4 cut down to width. Looks like Im gonna make some drivers since the bravo drivers have been discontinued and I hve not been able to find any.

Squeezed a 121" x12.5" x 1.35" track under this years Sport mod ... still waiting on snow to try it out. Other nice mod is the Skinz type air boards ... cut out the plastic foot well and light steel brace and added an inner brace and small tube intermediates with traction screws ... feet won't slide off this year!

New paint (needs a few stickers) and custom tunnel ... going to add a couple of small rails on the tunnel to strap on extra gas for longer rides.

couch, What track did you start with?

POLZINHUNTER, I think you can get drivers from Kimpex!

Another nice mod is Apex/Phaser take off skis. All the powder hounds are switching them out so local shop had some lying around. Cut them down for the scoot, and using full size with cut down runner for the sport!

The 121 is from Timbersled - had to cut the lug down from 1.75. The drivers are getting hard to get since Kimpex no longer makes them ... I got a couple of sets from Al's this year .... have plastic skis installed - big difference in flotation plus they don't stick like the stock ones.

Have one more Sport to mod for next year ... but it will be more for adult fun ... bigger engine and wider front end with better shocks for a little ditch banger under 300 lbs.

You don't happen to know the part numbers do you?

I have 04-108-19 but not sure if you need an inside and two outsides?

I'll give local dealer a call tomorrow and see if they can still get the kimpex drivers.

And is that a snow bike track? What width does it come?

04-108-19 is the right number ... I only used two sprockets driving both sets of inside nubs and this was fine ... Sport is only 125 cc and the same setup is used on a lot of machines with much higher HP / torque.

Timbersled does the snow bike conversion ... proper track, fully clipped. The 108" AD Boivin track was a nice fit as well but needed to be opened and clipped .
Lots of people have cut down tracks as long as there is enough material outside of the windows to bind the outer edges of the track.

Nope Discontinued ! called every dealer I could find. Nada! I own a machine shop witha water jet that will make the square hole center no problem they are simple after that .

Im doing a full restoration /mod for a customer long track ,custom rails etc. I think these may be more fun than the big ones

i was trying to get a brovo 250 going for my buddy and it need a new track. it was some weird pitch so i was just going to change drivers and no luck with finding them anywhere! i have a couple 121 tracks laying around. now the project is sitting in his garage in pieces and really cant do anything about it!

what are the dimensions of these you ordered? where did you order them? whats their number? i want a 2.52 pitch square shaft driver

Kimpex 04-108-19. 2.52 square. Still in their catalog! Phoned local Yamaha dealer and no worries. Again, I'll let you know if they show up and can grab you a set if they do.

Just upped the order to 4. Confirmed square shaft. Kimpex is a Canadian company so maybe it's different. Should show up late next week.

Was going to hold extra set for future but can pass them on if you want. $25 each plus freight, taxes, and shipping to you! I'll confirm next week if/when they show up.
