Xm chassis compare to XP

Is there any big differences.

Is it the same front end except from the a-arms?
From what I have figured out it is like an xp with new a-arms, skid, track and plastics.

Please show me that im wrong.

No, you are pretty much correct....I don't even know that the a-arms are any different. The spindles place the ski farther forward, ski keel is deeper....then the skid, track and plastic. IMO the rail profile and scissor location are the biggest improvements over the XP....I could care less if it's any more "flippable" or whatever they keep calling it.

I rode the XM and a '12 XP today and the biggest thing for me was the weight transfer. I like a lot of transfer and the XM purposely dials that down which I found to be a burden when going slow and getting on the throttle to initiate an uphill carve. Also the angle of the spindles and shock on the XM makes for a more rearward ski movement over bumps. I personally liked that a lot more than the XP while the dealer felt the opposite. The rear skid on the XM soaks up bumps better than any stock sled ever! After all that tho I preferred the XP when carving in marginal snow conditions - did not get to try the XM in pow where I'm guessing it would be better if only due to narrower body panels. The XM is nice but I'm not buying! They are very different sleds and I'd recommend trying if possible!

Have FUN!

If you have read many of my posts or any of my writings on maxsled.com you will know that I have had a pretty hateful relationship with the Doo Summits. I've tried a LOT to ride one and just could never figure it out.

I spent a day on the XM in March and I don't even think its the same sled as the XP. Yeah, not a huge number of changes, but the thing was damn easy for me to ride and I really enjoyed it.

If you have had issues riding the XP... specifically holding a good sidehill, off camber uphill turns and squirly downhill behavior then you ought to look seriously at the XM, I found all of those things remedied. I've said in the past that if you gave me an XP I'd sell it and buy something else. Well, if I was in the market for a new mountain sled for next year the XM would be in serious consideration.

My experience.

From what I understand, the crowned jewels on the XM is the rear suspension. My dealer told me that BRP will be doing a rear skid upgrade kit that clones the XM but will bolt onto the XP. I'm contemplating that or just buying an aftermarket skid. Now which one I dunno.

The 2013 XM,s that I have seen on the snow and at jackson didnt have the new mounting location for the skid, the holes for the rear skid bracket
were punched and plugged in front of the 2012 design, all the 2013 XM,s
had the rear drop bracket in the 2012 location, also didnt they move the ski to spindle mount back 7 mm and not forward, SLP spindle moves this point back 14 mm I believe, I could be wrong on that but that is what I was told.
Also what would happen to a 2012 summit if you put the 2012 freeride front upper A frame on that would allow the bars to be moved 2" forward?
There seem to be small refinements to the 2013 xm that would enhance the 2012 xp ride/feel of how the xp chassis would handle.
sometimes small changes improve how a sled performs and that is what i
believe they did with the XM chassis

Don't forget the hot new wraps that are available for the XM.

XM Is seriously refined, I mean not even in the same league! IMHO xm does what the xp couldnt. Satisfy the masses who have ridden a pro and now demand that level of easy handling performance. They will have my 500 on mon.
