What's the best town to live in for riding?

Farmington NM , very close to some of the best snow/riding areas in CO. or anywhere else for the matter, hardly any trails to ride and very few people "EVER" . all this and I maybe shovel the drivway one time a year . And thats just so I can say I did.

Nothing personal, the only worse place to live in NM is Espanola

Yea, you don't want to live in central Oregon either. The Cascade mountains are terrible riding. The snow is so deep you have a hard time getting through it!

I know your trying to be funny and all but it really is true. You don't want to live and ride anywhere in the cascades. The snow.... Yah you get a lot, but It sucks. No comparison to anything listed so far. I lived and grew up in Oregon and have never looked back. I remember getting 35-40" overnight, and it would feel like you were wading through sand.

Plus, Living in Bend/Redmond, you get to deal with all the 'Eddie Bauer' crowd. Bunch of snotty nosed yuppies for the most part. A few good peeps, but not many. IMHO

apperently you have not seen much of New Mexico there are alot of worse places than Farmington, but you are right Espanola is a real sheit hole for sure And I see you are from Gunnison ( lucky bastard ) If there was any way to make a good living I would think about it.And Damn its cold in Gunny during the winter . I have said for years that gunnison reminds me of Farminton w/o the Indians

I second the vote for Alpine, world class riding out your back door. And your only 1.5 hr to Togwotee. The negatives are expensive housing and a crappy job market.

No way, you all are wet, downtown L.A. has the best riding. Uh huh really it does. You all should move there and quick too before all the good spots get taken up. Yeah sure that's it best riding around L.A. Ca. really I ain't liein or nuttin, honest. Don't waste your time with Utah it sucks there lots of smog, bad air you wouldn't like it.... I hear San Diego has great riding too maybe give that a shot if you can't find anything in LA.

Where I live is the best, Still in the lower 48, 400+inches a year at 11,000' and Hell I even have work for you. But do not bug me unless your serious;)

There sure is a lot of paranoid people on here that think if they give up the town they live in, everyone is going to move there. Get a grip and join the coversation.

Oddly enough, just to be different, probably Mackenzie, BC. Nice, out of the way small town, and pretty close to some really great riding. Did I mention no crowds?

i totally agree you can actually go riding in the pass with out 20 people or more around you. anywhere else a 5 bedroom house would be 300 000 or more mackenzie is about half of that. One day ill buy a house there...:beer;

I live in north of Mancos, CO little town of about 1000 people, now the rural area is growing hand over fist. Rico is 45 minutes away if you like the steep and I mean steep and deep, I would not go with out a someone who knows the area one wrong turn and you are at a cliff. Transfer gets beat to death by trail riders but when you finally get there and know where to go it is not bad. Wolf creek is 2 hours from here and Silverton is about 1.5 hours, once again don't leave the trail unless you know you can get back. My buddies and I hike ride horses all summer long in these places (except wolf creek)so we know how to get out of a hole if we can not get back to the top.

If you like to ski Durango mountain is 1 hour from here, Telluride is 1 to 1.5 hours from here.

I am not worried about people riding up all the snow here. I see probably 100 different riders a year and I know of 6 or 7 that would even dare to go to the "good" stuff.
