What's the best town to live in for riding?

Good thread. I go to Cooke every year but would like to get out somewhere else and try someplace new, thanks for the input.

Here is a pic from this morning from my deck, the snow is good right now and I am heading out this morning right from my house to Crane mtn, I can cross the lake behind me and hit the trail to the mtn.

My vote would be Maybell, Co. You can ride the old Ski Maybell resort right from town, go north to Godiva Rim, west to Massadona, east to Lay Creek, south to little Juniper Mt. It just don't get no better than that!

:beer;Haines Junction, Yukon Territory, Canada.
700 people, 1.5 hours from international airport, wal-mart, dealerships, etc in whitehorse (25,000 people).
huge annual snowfalls, massive mountains, ride from your house into crown land, no closures, ever.
Used to ride my sled to school back in the day.:beer;
Other Yukon highlights :Haines/Skagway summits, Sled P0rn Video series, Summit Savages Video series, Ross Mercer's home town (263.5 feet, distance record), riding with pro's every time out, small town feel no matter where you go, friendly people, world class riding, loooong seasons.
If not here, then BC... valemont was sick, or valdez, AK. rode thompson pass, again, sick.

Sandpoint, N.Idaho rocks for sledders. Its close to the Canadian border. The Selkirks in Canada are as agood as it gets.

Maybell is just too crowded. Head north to Sunbeam. A little bit of Heaven on earth.

So let's modify the original question I had. What's the best town that you can ride from your house? If you are going to live somewhere to ride why would you want to have to drive to the riding?

Tumbler Ridge is great. 20 min drive and you have your choice of three beautiful areas. Awesome powder. Only an hour and a half to the pine pass. Mackenzie is fantastic also. Mcbride has Renshaw at its door step.

I lived in Valdez alaska for a year, I could ride from town up hogsback mountain to awesome mountain riding, or you could ride across the harbor from the pipline terminal across a lake up into the mountains into some of the best snow I have ever rode. I also lived in Breckenridge Colorodo where you could ride from french creek subdivision into some real fun riding.

Cascade,Donnelly, McCall and surrounding areas, Idaho. Still have 2 feet in my yard. Up McCall 4 feet still. Lots of riding.

Where are you from. Canada or U.S. ? Do you have to make lots of money?

Unquestionably the best

Is on the snow with friends!!!!

I have met friends from Spokane, Sicamous, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, etc. All by just inviting them or going and visiting...

for me the best place is where i am...and with great people that I have met on here...

But this isnt too bad for April 6th, since it is all our tracks!!! (Just south of Bozeman)

I have pondered on this!

I have pondered on this a lot, and asked many people this same question.
While the answers were quite different as to which town/state would be the chosen one, one answer always seemed to come out the same. No one would ever want to live or ride in Utah! To many people not enough snow and the liquor laws are really dumb. They suggested maybe Idaho, Montana, Colorado or even Wyoming. I hear the snow is great in all of those states!
