I'm looking into updating from my 08 xp 800 154 x to a xm model. Is there any difference in 13-16 and is there a lot difference between x model and sp. Right now I have spotted a 13 sp model that is in my price range. Thanks for the help!!!

I would look for a 15 or 16 put a diamond s can on it and ride. the 15 and 16 came with the 3" track

Xm

I just updated to a 2014 x model 154 summit. Sled head racing recommended the 2014 over the 2013 as did a few forums I found due to mainly computer programming for engine response and management. A lot of good deals out there on the 13s. I ve seen multiple 13s out there with 3k miles or better so they must be ok. X packages have better shocks that are rebuild able and adjustable. And the x packages have some extra features on the gauge cluster also. But You can have your dealer activate those features on the SP models also. The narrow front end and t motion and flex edge make the xm lay over much easier than the XP. Really like the etec motor so far. Starts right up and purrs like a kitten. Power and is a little different than the 800r but I am going to do a clutch to see if it wakes up the bottom end a little. My 2 cents

If the 2013 is around your price range Id stretch and try to get a 14X model. The 14's have better rave valves or something. And a few small updates. The shocks on a 13 sp are gonna be toast. Ive got 1400 miles on my 14x 154 and its a great sled. I had the shocks rebuilt at 1000 miles, added an HPS can, some bracing, with poo gripper skis and thats it. Probably get a good one for $6500-8000. The t-motion will be a big difference for ya coming off a 08. Plus narrow front end and the ETEC!

If u like the steep and deep I would spend a little more and get a T3. They definitely work better in the deep but if u do some trail riding a 2.5 might be a better fit.

I'd look for a left over 2015-2016 model, lots of good deals out there right now.

Sled

I bought a 2015 T3 174 coming off of a 2011 xp 154. Couldnt be happier with this new sled - best decision i ever made

Have an 05 summit x and 09 XP 154. Bought a new '16 last year while I was deployed and finally getting to ride this year. All I can say is "unbelievable". Incredible sled. You wont be disappointed.

Moved up from my 2012 etec 174 to a 2016 174 T3.
Nice sled with lots of add on's

The newer model that you can afford, the better. Not really for chassis, but engines and mapping got much much better over the years. 13 was a boggy mess, 14 was better. 15 was a big improvement, 16 had more horsepower and even better. I have specs somewhere, but every year BRP improved the power valve timing and HP.

I finally upgraded from an '04 Summit X 151 to a '16 Summit SP 163 T3. It has been a disappointing year around here for snow so far so I haven't gotten much seat time yet.
I decided after reading reports online and talking to people I know that it was time to upgrade and I got a good deal on a leftover '16, still waiting on some more snow.

Ras2

Get a 15 or 16. You can get the 3 inch track and the updated Ras2 geometry front end. It's amazing while riding trail to commute to play areas. It turns like butter and is so smooth. I have ridden non Ras2, and believe me, there is a big difference.

Shocks suck on all of them. SP, X. My SP ones basically rode bottomed out all the time. friends X. did the same.

I put fox evols on mine way better.

I can vouch that the mapping on my 2016 T3 was noticeably better than the mapping on my buddy's 2014. Not all 2015s and 2016s are T3s. The T3 package is worth the extra if you have the snow for the 3". The 3" track is a game changer, but the different front suspension on the T3s also makes them handle significantly better.
