teather on a yamaha apex or rx1

i got a Artic cat one works good, i went to the Brown/White wire (Kill switch).
the one's they sell at the local yamaha shop would not work

I cut my brown/white under the dash so the connection is hidden. You can use the brown or the brown/white it doesn't matter as it makes a complete circuit.Cut the wire splice into each end and your done.Make sure you get a closed tether or it won't work.

Closed meaning it makes continuity when the kill switch is in the on or running position right? So if you check continuity when the kill switch is in the normal or running position you should not get open line but should in fact get continuity. Am I explaining this correctly?

What kind of switches are you guys using? The pingle switch seems to be popular.

When I put mine on I used a male crimp connector on one side of the brown/white wire and a female connector on the other side. I then used corresponding plugins on the tether. This way if something ever goes wrong with the tetherswitch or you lose the popoff part you can plug the two ends of the brown/white back together and run without the tether.

Ken.....

Anyone try anything like Pro Armor tether or find a similar normally closed tether? I ordered a UFO one last year and the ****ar ended up being normally open for a dirt bike. I think the roll over valve uses the Pro Armor, I dont want the rollover valve tho...

So Duke, you are saying that you now use the pingle and don't like and are wanting to try the pro armour? I was leaning towards the pingle.is the pro armour the one with the t handle?

Yes, I currently have the Pingle with metal key. I've seen alot of stretched and broken tether cords with them. Hate to have a fkd motor because my key didnt pull. I might order the pingle with the rubber key, it mounts on the handle bar. I'm sure it would work good. I wonder how well the Pro Armor works, looks like it could ice up too?

Whatever you guys choose, stay away from the Gunnar kill switches. They are total junk and should be pulled from the market. I smoked two of them and they did nothing for warranty.

I went with the Pingel and no problems since.

this is actually the one i have on mine.mounted to the cowl just behind wind shield. went this route so i didnt have to remove grips to get the other kind slid on the bar. also protected fro any moisture..
