Spare Belt Placement

Does anyone have a way to get the spare belt to sit under the hood and have the side plastic shut properly without the plastic bowing out. The problem that I'm having is that i put the belt away and close the plastic and the plastic is bowing out and there is alot of presure as well. I have tried moving the belt forward and aft to get it to fit better and nothing. Please help.

Glad I am not the only one. Really piss poor design. After a few minutes of cursing I threw the spare in the Skinz tunnel bag. On monday I am going to the dealer to have em show me on a floor model.

after u get the belt in the metal holder there is a couple little plastic tabs that u basically lock the belt on the other side of towards the exhaust side. i can get a pic if u would like

I picked up my sled from the dealer this week and noticed the same thing with the panel. When I looked closely at it I noticed the dealer didn't get the spare belt in the correct spot and when they put the side panel back on it bent the plastic tab down. That was enough to put a kink in the tab and now it won't hook the ear correctly. I basically have to take the panel off the other side reach my hand underneath the hood and hook the tab over the ear. I am not too impressed with the system either. I love the sled otherwise (except for the oil in the bottom) but I am thinking if there are issues with the panel on day 1 there are probably going to be many more issues with the panel to come.
So be careful putting your panel back on and make sure the tabs don't get bent down. They don't work very well after that. If your seeing pressure pushing the panel out it might be the belt or it might be the little tab is wedged in there.

Not sure there's a remedy other than moving your belt to a different location. Looks to me like the furthest forward tab that is used to hold the side vent on the panel is what's hitting on my belt right behind the holder. Looks like they needed to rivet the belt holder in towards midline about 1/4 to 1/2" and problem solved.

got pissed off at mine, it sits just fine in the polaris tunnel bag. just lays around the edges and doesn't take much room away from the bag.

what i found works is just putting half the belt in the holder, with 2 of us couldn't get both sides in the holder!!!!!!!!! then put the other side in towards the motor, i zip tied each end of the belt to keep it from rubbing and used the Oring to hold it in the bracket. easy in and out this way and no pushing on the side panel.

After some deep thinking and a bit of beer drinking I found a way to get the belt and side panel to fit. Once the belt was zip tied on both ends and in the holder I pushed the belt as far as it could go away from the side panel. I was then able to get the side panel on without interference from the belt.
Kind of a pain but it works.

I zipped tied my belt on my D8 and the dealer told me not too because it could cause week spots in the belt. FYI.

LOL, that's the stupidest thing I've heard in a long time! If a drive belt can't handle 2 zip ties, We're all in big trouble.

Thats news to me. But then again I use A/C belts not Polaris.

Mine is the exact same way as catfreak has his but i didnt use zip ties and i have zero issues with it hitting anything.

catfreak, thats just what i did but couldn't get either my or terry's belt to fit both sides in the holder. did the dealer show you the secret cause 2 of us with a prybar couldn't get the thing in there!!!

Its a tight SOB to say the least the first couple times. That sounds dirty I used two pairs of channel locks and spread the holder open just a bit. Now the belt is much easier to get in...

A pair of gloves, some cussing, and some persistance and mine is in. It is a tight fit though. Pretty sure if I have to swap belts the old one is going in the tunnel bag!

Spare Belt - Pro RMK

I was suprised when dealing with this issue. Up to this point I thought, wow they thought of it all. Oh wait, not so fast. I spend 15 minutes cussing, pushing, and lots of different positions to squeeze the belt into place to find the side panel didn't fit correctly. I was ready to give in, then I gave it one more try. I pushed the belt together tight, moved it forward toward the front bumper as much as I could, then pushed like hell (with a little popcorn fart) until it finally slipped into place. I hope I never have to use it.
