SLP motor torque plates?

SLP sells a motor torque plate for the 800 big blocks (2004). Do they work and do they help the crank issuses at all? Has anyone used them? Any thoughts.
Cheers

I run one. I put it on after the first time I broke my crank. I have run it ever since. I broke my crank again.

I don't know if it helps or not... maybe if it wasn't on there I would have broken it again faster?

If the plate is installed can I use the stock motor mounts and does it affect belt lenght or anything?

The plate goes between the block and the stock motor straps. SLP will send you the longer bolts to bolt things down. I put the plate on a 2002 800 and a 2004 800, both were easy to install with no issues (I had the engines out doing crank updates).

Will this mount work with the 2004 Pro XR 800 model? They told me no at SLP without much reasoning as to why. I just put in the race durometer motor mounts and push/torque arms. That seems to help with belt issues. Time can only tell for the crank, 2500 hard miles on the machine so far, the clock is ticking...

I would really consider IndySpecialty's Torquemaster bottom end if I were you.

104 dollars for the SLP plate and maybe you blow the crank to? 1395 for Dans fix vs. blown crank with who knows what damage.

The plate wont cure the problem of to loose fit in the case, although it might help a little.

I bought one of Brad's (1200 PSI) motor plates for my 03 escape. It fit like a glove, same motor mounts, belt, and clutch alignment as stock was used. Brad thought it may require an extra washer for the secondary alignment, but when I measured everything looked good. I just put it in and ran it this past wkd in above "0 celcius" weather and on snow with a 1/4+ inch of crust on top........ tough conditions. No belt issues. Note to do the install I had to loosen up the the rear motor mounts, and after that the install went smooth. As NYRIDER said it is a one piece, you don't use the stock motor straps. From what I've read previously on Snowest(can't recall thread) the one piece motor plate is much better than the addition of a torque plate.

I also have brad's one piece motor plate. Why spend the money on a torque plate when you can buy the whole works for $60 more and it's one piece. SLP makes some great products but here they are outdone IMO.

Well thanks for tell me after I already spent the $hundy on the slp plate:eek: But hey it is a pretty blue:cool:

I also have one of Brads motor plates, on my 03 edge. Fits great and makes air box easier to get on and off.
