Ski too rubbers - Gripper Skis

Hi all, have been having issue with the Polaris rubbers barely lasting at all. I purchased some of the Ski too rubbers from an 06 summit after reading those worked better, but I cannot for the life of me get these things to fit. Most guys said they just used a sled lift and a block of wood under the ski, but we couldn't get the bolt thru even with two guys. Is there a trick to using these? Do I need to trim them down a bit?

I trimmed the thin ribs and notch bottom to fit gripper bottom. Found that turning the ski at an angle made install easier - takes a little persuasion plus help of a large wrench. Have destroyed the rev ones after a few rides - still better than stock.
Polaris IQ rubbers fit better and were more durable - also running durapros but they are pricy for two wads of urethane ....

I agree the Durapro’s are the best option. However they do fail. I’ve blown out two sets on my sled now. They warranty them, but I had to buy two sets to keep running them while I ship the others back. It’s a big investment for ski runners. I was going through a set of stock ones every ride or two. So that adds up quick.

I’m testing a fix for that.
(I’ve also torn my dura pro’s)

When the ski gets forced upward (hitting trees or rocks) the plastic mounting holes in the gripper ski stretch upward. This allows the ski to flop and the rubber becomes loose. (Then spits out the back while tearing)

Aluminum inserts for the gripper ski’s so the mounting holes don’t get stretched out.
(Or to fix them when already ovaled out)

Also screws in the front and back of the dura pro rubbers.

Seems to be holding up after 3 rides.

PM me if you would be interested in a fix for ovaled out gripper ski holes.

I have used the ski doo rubbers in the past with good results, however they do need to be trimmed. Using kimpex now which work well, but they need to be trimmed to fit as well.
A few of my riding buddies have the durapro and they are continuously tearing the bushings out of the skis. They were fed up and bought different skis....

Your buddies need these.

I run doo rubbers in my grippers. They hold up way longer, but they will still rip or blow out the back if you hit something hard. i do have to do some real mild trimming, i actually use a file to file them to point they fit. Doesn't take much.

The fix for the oval out or cracked gripped ski would be cool. I have 2 black grippers that are basically shot do to that.

I too put a screw in from the front and back into my ski dampeners but only on my 2015 as they have a smaller foot on the spindle and they fall out easier than my 2019.

Sheetmetalfa can you run two spacers on one side of The spindle or do the screws interfere with the spindle?

You would just run the screws from the inside out instead of outside in as I have them.

Or rivet the inserts in place.

The most important thing is to clamp the top of the clip to the bottom of the ski to make it as tight as possible.

2019 + spindles have more clearance for screw heads also.

What is the part number of the kimpex ski rubber dampers?

Amazon's prices are normally good, but high on these. They are only $15.19 direct from Kimpex. Better off buying them from your dealer.
