Rev Drop and Roll...

I read an article a few years back... It said the single most impressive mod that could be done to the Rev platform was a drop and roll. Has anyone done this? What kits or templates are available? Was it worth it?
I did one on my Cat and did it without a kit or template... just good old 9th grade Geometry! It turned out great, but I would never do it again, not without the template. The results were incredible and now i run a challenger extreme with screws and still have plenty of room in my tunnel and around my drivers.
Any input would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Kor

Vanamburg D&R

I purchased a template from a guy at hay days this year. It is a VA. It is a crazy big drop and roll. i think it was 2 1/8 back and 1 1/2 down. Or something along those lines. I did it to my rev and a buddy did his as well. I will sell you the template if interested. It was pretty easy. You will need to fab up or buy a chaincase protector. I would say if you have everything you need it would be able to be done in a good saturdays work.

I have also been told it is the best thing to do. I had a old f2000 chassis that i had drop and rolled but it was a very small d&R and didn't have much to compare it to. Only time will tell how it works.

Added a picture to give you an idea of far big the drop and roll is.

the biggest advantage is a lower attack angle and more tunnel/bulkhead clearance with deep lug tracks. the lower attack angle helps the sled get up on the snow better/faster and more clearance allows the snow to be evacuated more efficiently which should allow for greater track speed. as far as how big of a d&r should be done depends on your application and specific sled. but the one in the picture looks HUGE. but i can't really comment because i'm a poo guy and really don't know specifics with doo's. too big can also cause more problems than what it solve. if it is dropped way down then it is easier to hit your drive shaft on things while riding which can be bad if it breaks. also, there can actually be too much tunnel/bulkhead clearance which can lead to ice/snow build up which actually leads to less clearance. good luck with d&r's hope they work well. looks like a pretty clean setup. enjoy.

I did the VE d&r to mine. Although there kit sucks. The template is useful. They couldve added the sideplates and put the holes in for the chaincase bolts. Specialty sled in Canada has a more complete kit and did more homework on it, but cost is a bit more. I know and ride with 6 others that have it done. I wouldn't ride a REV without it. I also run the 8t Avid drivers with 156x16x2.5" track.

heres a pic, you can kinda see the bigger chaincase guard. My chassis is a 159 with 156 track.

Thanks for all the imput. I will pass this on to my buddy with the Rev and also let him know about the template offer!
Thanks!!!

Got the VE D&R on mine as well. Pretty serious drop and roll but it was worth it. In the powder, it works unbelievable.

Bringing a thread back to life. Does this Van Amburg roll move the chaincase into the foothold area? It looks like the jackshaft is inside the tunnel now, can anyone confirm this? Has anyone ran into any issues with this mod?

The websites that sell these kits do not explain a thing.

Thanks y'all

Nate

have a specialty sled on mine. if your looking for an all around kit with everything then go with them. they are a bit more, but provide you with everything. the jackshaft is inside the tunnel and you do loose some foot room on your right foot. i fun 10t drives with 2.25 track and i can fit my hand up inside there. i have to be carefull when loading on the deck and going over logs because the drivers do hang down so low. awsome on the rev though. jmo

The jackshaft is inside the tunnel and the chaincase does get moved into the foothold. If you want more pics of mine, let me know.

Its a great mod...sled really jumps up on the powder with it. and more clearance around drivers/paddles means more track speed as less energy is waisted trying to stuff the snow up there, and u can run bigger drivers that let the track bend easier.
Or if u really want to do it get the CMX belt drive, drop and roll + 11 pound weight savings and no more chain worries...but 2500.00 spendy 4 sure

I'm sorry. I'll get some taken. I've been working out of town and running ragged.

Sweet, I wasn't forgotten. :)

Anybody have any parts they want to sell if I pony up to do this? 8t 3p extros, chaincase guard, templates?

Bumping this thread. Looking at doing mine and some pics of the case location in the foothold would be nice. :beer;

We used to do the drop and roll to pretty much everything in the late 90's early 2000. i thought since 2003 with the introduction of the factory drop and roll in the mountain cats it was just built in to all sleds!!??? Biggest gain i ever saw was on the 2000 ski-doo extreme traction 151. Those tracks were 1/4 inch away from the bulkhead the snow would just bunch up a scrub track speed.
