Premium Membership worth $$?

hmmm, you obviously havent been logged on for a while.
For a site thats just over year old , it has quite a few tech articals.
Of course the social aspect is one of the biggest attractions to that site.
Who wouldnt want to have fun with the folks you ride with?
Last years BCR ride was down your way in Castlegar. You have some great riding around there and the people were fantastic.
Back to the question at hand ; is SW worth paying for? not for me!

I have no problem with BCR (or any other site) and I surf both.....there's nothing "wrong" with either one. Some make it sounds like it's dead here, or the majority of people have left, or that it's not worth a yearly pitance....that I disagree with.

I think the fact that there are so many people steamed over a small entry fee is funny. This is probably one of the most expensive sports on the planet and 15 bucks is just breaking people.....LOL

BCR is nothing more than a social site, not that there is anything wrong with that, but not very much tech info to be found. The Polaris forum is about as exciting as watching jello harden. The moderators and site security (whatever that is) guys are asking members to copy tech info from here and move it over there so there is something worth reading. Enjoy both sites and let's move on.....

Most magazines offer a killer deal on the first subscription for New Subscribers.

So far as I know that's pretty much standard operating procedure for the ENTIRE magazine industry.

1) You are here for a reason. If you weren't getting what you wanted here, you would leave.

2) If Snowest was losing money on this venture, like other businesses, they would shut it off. Where would you go then to get the amount of information you are already finding here?

3) I'm always looking for a good bargain, so please tell me where I can get this much information, about so many topics, so fast, and by people that live and breathe this stuff for $10/year. Granted, that is the $30/3 years, but I am reinforcing my point about finding a good deal.

4) Have you not saved $10/year on ideas or bargains on things that you found here to offset the cost of supporting the forum?

I can't buy enough manuals, rent enough friends, or pay for enough information to fill the bucket of knowledge I can gain by getting on this forum in a matter of minutes. Why would you feel that it should be given to you for free? I am not too fond of some of the use of the information by Snowest after it has been posted, but without retracing my steps, I believe that it is likely in the consent agreement that you authorize when you join. Oh well, you give a little and take a lot.

I purchased mag to support website. When pay thing started I asked for free premium membership until mag subscription runs out. [ i paid for three years ] Christopher said no. When mag subscription runs out I will not renew and will just be a basic member that some on this site won't ride with? really? just sayin

I think it's worth the $15. I used to go to borders to get a copy of snowest mags, and now the mag comes to me in a digital copy. Either way I'd be spending the money.

I think there are a bunch of us wondering if we will get a deal. Most of us 3 year guys bought in when this site first went to a fee instead of bailing. We should be able to get some kind of deal when going 3 to life...call it parole???

I'll throw in MY PERSONAL opinion... im pretty much a lurker here now. everything I participated in when I joined is gone. The Nevada/California thread would see well over 500 posts a season...EASILY! Now its a ghosttown. The tech help I used to get is now from the few who stayed behind... a bunch left and have disappeared from forums all-together it seems. The WAAAAY fun threads are a fond, distant memory... SnoWest's #1 threads seem to be "whats the difference between the M,XP and Dragon" and "what should i buy out of..." Sure theres useful info, and $15.00 is chump change. But FOR ME... it seems these dats EVERBODY is asking for extra money for the same services... havent even re-subscribed to D-TV because all the channels I loved that were "basic" are now PREMIUM and would cost another $20.oo a month. It is a useful site... but its not worth out-of-pocket to me. (never did care for the magazine as well) I DO PLAY on the others... and they are building! Wish they woulda just left it alone...
