Power Valve Leaking

I have an 06 M7 and the power valve towards the clutch side seems to be leaking a tad? Any idea what might cause something like that? What's the best way to clean these and verify they're working? Sorry for the repost, as I know it's been posted lots but my search option will not work.

Is it the gasket(s) that's leaking? If so you can just replace them and should be good to go. You can put some gasket maker silicone on your current ones if you don't have time to wait for new gaskets. I've done that before and had good results, just make sure that goop doesn't get into the workings of the powervalve.

I use non-chlorinated brake cleaner and a rag to clean my stuff. If your powervalves are gummed up you can carefully take a razor straight edge to it to get all the carbon buildup off.

Gasket maker silicone? Never heard of it. Is it pretty domestic or do I need to order it?

Black RTV silicone or similar. Every auto part store carries it. Make sure all the working surfaces are clean from oil etc. Do not tighten down the powervalve bolts too tight on re-install or they will snap on you in the backcountry. The powervalves only go in one way, take a look at the orientation before you take it out.

Anyone else heard of clear RTV? I have seen lots of colors of RTV, but never clear.

Not sure off hand..I have used it for household and shop errands. Nothing on the sled. It's definitely clear RTV. Says RTV silicone clear right on the label

I'll go with some high heat black though.

I changed my gaskets twice last year. Never cured the problem. I then found a hole in the Y-pipe that was causing the mess. Food for thought.

Well I don't have a Y pipe because I have after market twins but I'll check those outlets as well. But I can definitely see where one valve is leaking the other is not. Pretty drastic difference in the two.

I had same problem. check p valves couple times a year. The gaskets can be used many times just spray on coppercoat stuff is awesome..
