power commander or other control?

I plan on starting to mod the engine in my 2013 Assault this fall , I am looking at the doon dockers box and power commander V. What is everyone else using and what do you like about it? The power commander now has a remote screen to view feed back from the ECU , this comes at a added cost. There is also two choices on the PCV the 19-004 is the standard unit with full control of the fuel but the 19-030 adds spark advance and retard. I am not really interested in the PCFC because its not compatible with the remote screen. Also do you think I am better off with Koso wide band AF meter for fine tuneing or having it as part of the power commander system?

any one care to comment on the tuners reference guides they use . Wide band O2 , EGT , spark plug color or all the above. My older carb sled I had good luck with EGT but it can be tricky if you don't see the point where the temp goes from hot and drops a 100+* when Det starts.

with all of the super smart sled heads here on this site , NO One is willing to help me out ? Just looking for your on the benefits of what your using ........Please!

I've had good luck with pcv in the past , the auto tune is great for wot , but don't think auto tune is going to build a map for you , it's not.

The pod 300 is a nice unit for displaying the pcv values as well.
I've always used afr in the past.
Always cross check to plugs and wash

Yes a pcv requires a lap top to setup , but once setup didn't need adjustment.

Trying the boondocker

I am going to try the boondocker on mine, have not used it yet but I will be able to make some field adjustments easily. I have also spoken with their customer support and was very happy with how helpful they have been.

xcmark,
Great Questions regarding the Dynojet line of fuel control products. Your decision between Fuel Only or Fuel + Ignition is entirely up to you of how much control you desire. I've seen excellent results when tuning with the fuel only unit, and really seen machines come alive using the F/I units especially when port timing and exhaust cross section have been altered.

Since you're already interested in the POD-300 Digital Display, rounding out the system with an Autotune/WB2 unit is an excellent choice as opposed to the separate meter system. The AT uses the same Bosch LSU 4.2 sensor, and is pairable with all Dynojet fuel controllers. The AFR value can be displayed live on the POD-300 as well as activate the autotuning feature which will automatically adjust trims as you ride to hold a target AFR - which isn't possible when trying to pair the PCV with a separate gauge/monitor such as a KOSO.

As for tuning guidelines, the same schools of thought that applied in the old days still are relevant now....Plug color, wash and wet line in the pipe are the most solid indications of what is going on inside your engine. As mentioned, EGT's can read low and you'll be extra lean, or hot....same is true on the rich side, but examining the conditions inside of the engine can't lie. AFR meters are much more dependable for producing an accurate representation, but the number on the gauge still must be correlated to the condition inside the engine.
