So, with all these sled parts entrepreneurs allegedly mining these parts made of gold, I need to know what happens when the skid, track and skis are gone. How long does one of these gold miners trip over the bulkhead and tunnel in their garage until they toss it?
Is there really a gold rush of used sled parts this year with all the snow and the thousands of builds going on?

are you mad about it or something? if they weren't making money off doing it they wouldn't do it. I personally don't care what people do with their own stuff

No I'm not mad at about it. Like you, I don't really care what people do with their stuff.

My buddy is parting out a XF1000, and he's already made more in parts than what the sled is worth, without even selling the motor.

There's always seems to be someone who needs an obscure part for repairs or wrecks.

I almost always part out my personal sleds when I am done with them. It just takes some patience, but you get more in the end.

Here is an example.

Nice clean used 2008 or 2009 ish M1000 with a bunch of aftermarket stuff.

Market value on this sled is probably $3500 to $4000.00.

Part out

Complete engine in clean good condition $2000.00
Rear Timbersled skid $1000.00
Clutches $ 500.00
Diamond Drive in good shape $ 400.00
Wiring harnesses and gauges $ 250.00
Airbox and intake parts $ 100.00
Hood in good shape $ 350.00
Aftermarket seat in good shape $ 200.00
Track in good shape $ 450.00
Aftermarket pipe/ypipe and can $ 500.00
Fuel controller $ 200.00
ECU $ 695.00
CCU $ 150.00

So we are right at $6795 and this is just the easy stuff to sell. At this point the bulkhead and tunnel you are tripping over can go to the recyclers and you can pay your gas there and grab a Pepsi!

*This is just an example and has no real world relevance to anything whatsoever.

just look around on here or ebay. Guys parting out BRAND NEW sleds all the time. They sell ALL the parts, they strip everything down too, if you buy a new motor you get a bare long block, they sell the bolts, hoses, clamps, everything.
clearly there is money to be made and I think if your going to do it a brand new zero mile sled is the way to do it. Too much BS boxing/shipping/payments for me to deal with. Eric

Buddy of mine parted out 5 m-series sleds last winter and all he has left is a couple buckets of small parts. He made a lot more than they were worth. I parted out my M1 two winters ago. It was near mint with some nice mods and couldn't get a hot on it. Parted it out for over 50% more than what I was asking as a whole.

If you live in a place like new Mexico as I do it's about the only way to get ride of a sled without making a Long delivery. And you can make more $$ too

Parted out a M8 last winter and made about $1500 more than I would have selling it whole plus kept the C&A skis. The only thing I tossed was the $20 center belly pan.

They don't otherwise they would lose money. I am glad I have an option other than the dealer :face-icon-small-coo
