Unfortunately in the Jefferson Area 2 people have died. Avy danger will be HIGH ALL year because of a persistent slab(hard snow) of snow deep in the snow pack. Jefferson Area also has some bad Terrain traps that can bury you deep in the slide. I WILL NOT BE GOING IN THAT AREA THIS YEAR!!!!! Island Park is a big area, best to go somewhere else IMO. Paryers to those that have been lost.

I was up there last weekend, got stuck..bad. during my efforts to dig out the snow had some crazy stacking of layers, soft fluff up top hard pack for a foot or so, more fluff and then a super hard pack. I agree, to a point, it's not gonna be till late into spring for this crap to stabilize, if ever. Granted I'm only on my fourth season riding here, but this is the heaviest snow I've seen since coming here, a lot like Turnagain in Alaska
