Just curious to see how many miles somehow has gotten out of a mainly stock 800 HO before a problem?

hmm... bought a used 2014 from a guy on here (clharris, great guy!) with about 2,800 miles. Was worried about a quick top end before my trip but with good compression I'm just gonna go. Thanks for the links guys.

Longest I kept one was just shy of 5000 mountain miles, however a well known mod shop has said that there good for 8ish

That guy needs a 4 stroke. Could probably ride the same sled for the next 20 years. Although it certainly doesn't seem like the two strokes are treating him badly.

That guy is putting on flat land miles, over in Ontario 2 stroke sleds have been getting over 10000miles for over 10 years, can't compare straight up mountain miles, if you have over 3000 mountain miles on your machine you should be thinking about pistons just in case, or else you may be into repair for $3000 vs $500

I agree 3000 miles on any 2 stroke Piston has always been my rule. The skirts start to collapse then they slap and break off. It's cheap insurance

Ross is from my hometown and is a snowmobiling machine!! I have rode with him a couple times but those 200-300 mile days are a little much for my M800 turbo. I still can't believe Arctic cat hasn't started giving him sleds to test and document failures. I don't think there is too many guys out there putting more miles on consistently than him.

flat land miles are 3x more than mountain miles. Why is this not in the Polaris section. O wait they have 200 threads for fix kits with sleds under 1000 miles.:face-icon-small-ton just be glad M7's aren't in the mix .

You can't believe arctic cat hasn't done a very obvious and simple thing that would improve both their image and their actual product development?

You new here? ;)

This guy should be the poster child of their trail sled lineup on their website.

My 13 just broke a piston skirt of at 3600 miles and 190 hours. The other piston had cracks on the skirts. All stock except muffler, clutching and gearing.
