M858 clutch kits?

finally got out on a ride with the stock weights and helix back in, but kept the slightly stiffer springs from the Ibexx kit. Pulls much harder now on the top end and got the track speed back up into the low 40’s on wot climbs, vs the low to mid 30’s I was seeing with the Ibexx stuff. Might have gave up a tiny bit of bottom end responsiveness vs the Ibexx, but not enough to cause issues, and I’ll take the top end pull over that extra smidge of response any day. Now I just gotta figure out what’s going on with my atac button. Thinking moisture is getting in there and wigging it out.

I got out yesterday with stock 58 weights, stock 48 helix. Speedwerx 200-280 secondary, 140-300 primary. Glide washer in primary and secondary. 11500ft hitting 8150 peak and holding 8000-8100. Maybe down to 7900 under heavy snow load with hot clutches. Engagement around 3900-4000rpm. Overall pulled hard up top. Best it has ran so far.

My main issue is I run out of track speed halfway up big pulls. The only reason I'm making it up is the Powerclaw track keeps digging. It's almost like climbing at 2/3 speed. What do I need?

I looked at an ibexx turbo yesterday. That's what you need to fix that. Really clean kit. Really low and they said it knocks off 2 pounds. Really makes me want to try one. They said they would meet me somewhere to try one. Told them I would have to know cat was here to stay.

What was your track speed in a climb?

Around 37mph from what I could see. That bar kinda sucks. Had rpm as my number so I could pay attention to it. Would go higher once on top of the snow more

@CO2.0 I am running full speedwerx kit unload at 6500 and my max elevation is 10K usually hover between 8500-9 and I hold a consistent 8150 backshift is good and bottom end response is very improved over stock. I see 36mph track speed this is on a 165 sno pro and i weigh over 250 geared up. I'm really curious what the full stock setup is seeing for track speed

I ride similar elevation with c&s kit with 165. More like 9 to 9500 for me. Moderate snow is a consistent 8200. Deep snow is 8150. Don't know what track speed is. I'll have to look next time. What rpm does yours engage at? Thought mine was 3600. My buddy thought it was 3800.

Im engaging at 3900-4000. Mine is a 154, and Im about 200 fully geared up. When Im at 9000-10000ft my sled runs 8250-8300 down to 8150. Not sure track speed at that elevation. When i had the 46 helix in w stock springs it would fall off rpm when hot. Was holding 7800rpm usually. Track speed was 33mph

See I was running the speedwerx kit empty weights and could only pull 7,800rpm at 85-9500 ft.

There was a pretty noticeable seat of the pants difference for me going back to the stock weights and helix over the Ibexx stuff. With the Ibexx it would hardly pull the front end up, with the stock stuff its back to wheelying up everything like the first ride or two before the clutch kit got installed, no other changes made. This is on a 165 mtn cat at mostly 7500-9000 ft. Kinda felt like the Ibexx kit was keeping it in a lower gear all the time, and not letting it shift into a higher gear to get the track spinning. I think these things like the load of the steeper helix. So I’m currently running what appears to be bdx springs that came with the kit, so I wanna say it’s a 105-280 primary spring and 190-260 secondary spring and stock 62gr weights and helix. From what I remember engagement was around 34-3500 and up around 9k feet rpm was still holding 8-8100 pretty good.

I think I've come to the conclusion to put the stock helix back in for next season. This compound cut helix just seems to cause a lunge if that makes sense. It's difficult to get on and off the throttle in the trees and maintain a feeling of control.

Interesting read. Back and forth. I can't believe what a good clutch kit does to the 858. Its been a couple of years since I have been on here. Surprisingly still people come here for information. 🤔

I have had great success with my kit.

Message Chewy22. I believe that's what his kit is.
Hubs kit works very well, way better low end throttle response, great back and up shifts, and max RPMs hold sold. I've had it in various snow conditions and performs great in all conditions. I really like how easy it is to adjust the weight with different size set screws in the heel and can be done without taking the clutch apart. Spacers are built into the weights so less complicated. I honestly never paid any attention to track speed. But it always felt fine and went anywhere I wanted the sled to go. The clutch engagement is on the high side for my personal preference but it's a very smooth engagement. In the deep fluff you don't even notice it, but it was in the setup/hard spring snow that I really started noticing that. That should be easy to address with a softer starting rate on the primary spring. Again that is a personal preference thing. Overall the kit is good.

After reading through the thread, I will start paying more attention to track speed. But I like the tight technical tree stuff and on and off the throttle response is more critical to me.
