Does anyone know and or have a write up on how to remove the track on an m series? I thought I had saved one somewhere along the lines but cant seem to find it and I have a buddy looking for one. Thanks.

there was a really good write up in 'Pride' magazine, the publication AC puts out for its customers.

You might have it unless you bought used or threw it away?

Ok I will let you know how I did it.

1. First off get the end of the sled as high as you can in the air
2. Remove Skid
3. Remove the funny looking nut that holds the brake rotor on (I broke it loose with a screwdriver and hammer)
4. Remove the bolt that secures the drive shaft to the diamond drive (this requires a very long extention, the bolt is located in the middle of the hollow driveshaft on the brake side, use a flash light to look inside the driveshaft and you will see it)
5. Remove the bolts on the inside of the tunnel that hold the brake assembly on.
6. Slide the driveshaft towards the brake assembly far enough to get the splines of the diamond drive out of the driveshaft.
7. This should give you enough room to slide the track out between the tunnel and driveshaft.

Good luck this is not a hard project but can be time consuming, it is a very tight fit getting the track out between the driveshaft and tunnel. It can be tricky getting the track wadded up enough to get it off of the drivers too.

I am sure I forgot some minor details but somebody else will probably chime in if I forgot something.

You do not have to remove the brake rotor. You can get the driveshaft out of the way enough to get the track on and off. It just takes a little finness.

I am gonna call BS on not taking the brake rotor nut off. I was told the same thing when I went to take mine off it you are running a camo challenger it is way too stiff to get it out without pulling the nut off of the rotor.

Yes my buddy is taking off his A20, and replacing it with an extreme. Do you have to use a special removal tool to get the rotor off? I figured it couldn't be heard but yes, a time consuming.

i am taking mine off tomorrow as i just ripped a foot and a half off my track. i can take pics along the way and do a little write up for ya if you want?
it is an 06 m6 with a 141 callenger extreme going to a 153 challenger extreme as i happen to have it lying around for another project that wont be done till summer.
let me know if you want that.

Sure that would be helpful for him if you are willing to do that. Also what are people using to hoist the back end up in the air? I would say a cherry picker but I dont have one here at my shop.

Uhh, I have done it half a dozen times, it is easier to pull the diamond drive off than the brake rotor

I've done this 3 times now and havent pulled the rotor yet. The 2.25 track is a bugger but can be done.

These pics are of two different sleds but should give you an idea of what to do?

Yep, that looks familar!

I have debated it it easier to take the brake rotor off, but then you have to buy the socket for that

While the reverse DD is not as easy to pull, I would still probably pull the DD on the 07, 08's just because I would want to service the DD while I was at it

might as well eh?

track

I've done it three times....don't pull off the rotor...take off the d-drive and the whole brake assembly just like in the pics....tilt the drive axle down on the drive side...the track will come out
