Low Idle

Mine is going in Wednesday for tps adjustment and we will see what happens from there. I'm going to make sure they do all the steps mentioned on here procedure wise and have them record base setting before and after completed. They have always done a good job with warranty work for me in the past including tsp settings on my 12 pros. If it is reeds at least tps is ruled out.

Great, just brought mine home, purchased it 2 days ago, started in the garage a few times tonight and holds 1400 for about a minute then gradually dies out, have to blip the throttle to keep running. dealer is 5 hour drive away :( not to mention the steering post that has way too much play for a new sled in my opinion. Regretting this decision so far.

Mine did the same at elevation. Had the TPS adjusted and it runs and idles perfect now. Both base setting and idle setting were quite a ways out of spec.

Taking to dealer on Monday, just hope they can get the TPS dialed in properly the first time :face-icon-small-dis

I cant for the life of me understand how something can leave the factory being that much out of spec. A brand new sled that isn't even set to Polaris' own spec. Who do they have putting these things together?

I'm headed to talk to the dealer tomorrow. If anyone finds a solution to their low idle, please post it up. Could be helpful to the rest of us.

Really seems like a tps issue to me. I also had a slight stutter/bog hammering on it coming over a small creek. Stuttered at about 6500 rpm or so. Did it three separate times today.
Have to adjust the throttle and then re-adjust the TPS. Has to be done at the dealer they'll do it under warranty

Hit the end of my 18 hour break in...thing idles worse than ever. I also broke a primary clutch spring this weekend, so it's going in for warranty on both of those.
Good news is, even with a broken clutch spring, and pulling 7800 rpm in a climb, I was still out climbing everybody else on the hill who were on pros.

How many of you on this post that had a TPS adjustment submitted for warranty got it covered by your dealer and/or Polaris? My dealer has not yet committed to covering the adjustment. They like to pass TPS adjustments off as maintenance and do not typically submit for warranty. They claim that Polaris does not reimburse them for the adjustments, but in this case the TPS was wrong from the factory. I will get the sled back tomorrow and see if it is fixed and see if the dealer and Polaris choose to cover it.

No offense, but your dealer is a POS! I'm guessing you purchase several new sleds from them and they aren't going to adjust a poor running sled for you?????

Aren't you somewhat close to Grand Lake, CO? I'd be heading to Spirit Lake Polaris if I was you...they are good guys there:)

They have always covered all mine.

Back and forth to the dealer dealing with the TPS issue, TPS investigated and re-configured at dealer again yesterday and still has same symptoms after test ride. Sled has less than 5 miles on it and won't idle or go into reverse without dying. Glad a lot of you guys are happy with your purchase and properly setup TPS, but the TPS issue is and continues to be a major problem for some of us.

What were the exact TPS readings?

Did they adjust idle tps setting too? Or just base setting? Also, it would be 0.69 and adjusted to 0.70. If it was 6.9 to 7.0...it would be way out

I asked them to look at the base setting and idle setting and they said they did, but I do not remember what they said the idle setting was... I believe all they adjusted was the base setting and yes, .690 and .700 is what I meant, thanks!

If they did the base they would have to back out the idle settings to find it so both would have gotten done. We did ours over the weekend with the same result... some Polaris guys were in the cabin next to us that I'm sure got annoyed by a few axys headlights strobing out when our sleds were idling at 6 am warming up pointing in their direction.

Seriously? Everybody that just bought a new $13-14,000 sled should get comfortable disassembling half of it to make an adjustment that should be made at the factory?

How about Polaris should take the time to properly train techs to do this simple but important adjustment when the factory screws it up?

Some of can wrench but hate it. I am one of those. Today I have to pull the motor from my buddies M1000 and disassemble it so we can do the top end. Precisely why I buy new sleds, so I do not have to be a sled mechanic.

Couldn't agree more... $14,000 I want it to start without blipping the throttle. I want it to idle where it is supposed to. And when I take it to the dealer for an adjustment I want them to dial it in. Not telle it's in spec and send me out the door with the same issue. :face-icon-small-fro WTF!

I feel your pain, back to the dealer again next weekend to have them adjust my tps again, just hope they can finally get it right, such a discouraging experience for a new sled, very unhappy with this purchase so far because of this tps issue. I drive my new sled back and forth to the dealer, and read tps threads far more than I actually get to ride it! :face-icon-small-fro
