Just a reminder on the G4 Chain Case

The maintenance schedule on page 126 in the operators guide says to adjust chain tension every 1000 miles? If you blew a chain would it be covered under warranty?

Nope, maybe that long after initial stretches...it is important to go over everything, this is why I made the reminder...

Don't forget to check track tension also mine had moderate strength In first dozen rides

Yea my track got a little screwed up on the one side. Didn't notice until I got it thawed out in the shop, looks like it rubbed on the drop bracket a few times

after dealing with buddies polaris belt drive and other peoples self tensioners, I think we all need to thank skidoo for what they have out now and adjust our chains once or twice and be happy with it. Its the strongest set up going.

I am still not sold on a factory belt drive. I mean they definitely have their pros but I would rather keep these coming from the aftermarket as an option. Chain drive is much more reliable and I know this has been gone over a billion times but what is the difference in "breaking in your chain" and "breaking in your belt drive" Belts will pop if not taken easy on right away. So what we have to do the same with chains but gain reliability. Not trying to change the subject. Yes, Ski-doo seems to have this whole chaincase adjustments/maintenance made as easy as it can be. Thanks Dave!

has anyone checked the chain tension when the sled was BRAND NEW? i know this seems pointless, but i was just curious.

i just checked mine using the "secondary clutch with the brake on" method. it was plenty loose. at 110 miles i was able to turn the tensoner 2.5 turns before the slop was gone in the secondary clutch.

2.5 turns

100 plus miles and 33 break in. Half and half road and powder. I got 2.5 turns in has had trouble lining the clip back in.

Manual doesn't say how much gear oil is needed, will I need more than one 12oz bottle?
