How to get to bountiful

I have never ridden Bountiful but would like to give it a try tomorrow. I don't know where to park though. I have heard you park under the B but I don't know how to get there. Can anybody help?

Is the road all rutted up? Which road is a lesser of two evils, Bountiful or Farmington?

Been to bountiful once so I can't really help with directions was following one of the guys I was riding with. But, if you've never been there I highly reccomend you finding someone who can guide u around there's some pretty steep technical terrain and can get nasty if u don't know your way around.

I like technical terrain. I agree that you should know before you go, and having a guide would be nice, but we are usually pretty careful. We have ridden Farmington before so we where thinking of putting in at Bountiful and riding over toward Farmington with the hopes that the rutted up road isn't as long.

if I remember right head for the B on the mountain,the parking lot is right under the B.sorry that's all I remember its been a long time since ive been up there.

400 north is the main street you head up. At the top just before it starts to bend toward the temple, you hang a left into the neighborhood just below the B then back to the right to get to the B. Its a big parking lot and big letter, can't miss it.

Depends on what direction you come from. Off I 15 you take 500 W left side exit if coming from the North and turn left at your first light or take 400 N if coming from the south. go all the way up 400 n to 1300 E One way stop sign. and turn left (N) go past first street (circle) turn right up 2nd street or 600 N turn right at top of that road follow it up to the top and turn right takes you directly to the parking lot.

riding north to Francis Peak...

from the top of bountiful. Has some very technical steep up and down ridge riding, etc.. If you dont know the way, Get a guide, I've ridden the area for 25 years. I love the area but avy's do happen often up there. Going south not as bad but by the time you get to grandview you will realize you better be on gooood sleds and better not break down...Be very careful up there or you will get somewhere you won't get out of.

Both roads are EVIL, the fish cops patrol the parking lot like flies on poop, its nasty to get back there, the residents hate us 'bilers and flatten tires while we ride, the snow is always wind-blown and crusty, there is only a small area to ride and its crowded. I honestly dont know why anyone would ever go there...

you forgot to mention the road up there has HUGE BUMPS for 8 miles. your back will hate you.

2 years ago there was like 2 trucks in the parking lot on saturdays. now you go up on a friday and there is 100 trucks. i dont even bother going on saturdays cause you cant find a parking spot... when did b-town become such a popular spot? dont people know the snow is better up farmington and guardsman?

People want good riding closer, for time and money purposes. I find myself exploring riding areas that are much shorter drive from home then trucking 1.5hrs to the usual spot. Results have been very rewarding I must say.

Back on topic, has anyone tried accessing the riding above bountiful from the foothills above the avenues or city creek. This year would be the year, good low elevation snow around those parts.

I would rather drive an hour to the Uintas then ride the hour up that rough freaking road for a couple mediocre riding areas. I guess you can shorten the ride up a lot if you like riding over rocks, mud and sage brush.

I can see for your Wednesday morning ride after a storm for some good face shots but I'd rather drive a bit to where there is a plethora of my kind of riding in the weekends....

Bountiful is just not a good place to ride. Road in and out sucks! People trying to ride up the road in trucks rip it up bad. Parking lot is never plowed. The whoops get taller than a man....and blizzards can require the most skilled and prepared sledder to need rescue.

as for city creek and the avenues, its illegal to operate a snowmobile in salt lake county watershed... would not suggest trying to ride in from that direction.

Speaking of..........snowmobilers being searched for on Bountiful right now. Lost last night. Hopefully this wasn't any of you. Sounds like they have contact with them.

Bountiful Takes prisoners.

BOUNTIFUL — A father and son who were stranded snowmobiling were found by another snowmobiler Thursday.

According to the Davis County Sheriff's Office, search and rescue were looking for Robert Sutton, 41, and his son Cole Sutton, 15, who got stuck in Ward Canyon, near Grandview Peak outside of Bountiful. They became stranded when their snowmobiles wouldn't start Wednesday night.

They spent the night on the mountain before emergency crews were contacted and dispatched Thursday morning.

Thursday afternoon, officials said the Suttons' cell phone batteries were dead and they could not get a GPS coordinate for them. The two did not have avalanche beacons, either. Other information about the Suttons' equipment was unknown.

Late Thursday afternoon, a snowmobiler headed up Skyline Drive and into the area of the Suttons. They made contact with the two, and notified officials of their location.

The sheriff's office said the two were healthy and uninjured, just cold.

"It's a lot colder up here than I thought it was going to be," said Barbara Selleneit, Cole Sutton's grandmother.

Due to an oncoming storm and dusk, the Department of Public Safety helicopter was flying with caution, said Sgt. Susan Poulsen, Davis County Sheriff's Office. As of 3 p.m., visibility was good, and search and rescue teams saw the helicopter.

Cheers to the fella they interviewed that went up with his son on his own to find them. Tracked them down in about 30 min. Just said that if it were he and his son he would hope someone would come look for them.
