Avalanche came down into the lake, which overflowed and blew out the creek below.
Pretty rare event but would be a horrible surprise if you were exploring the drainage for the first time.
Stay safe!

A few years back, an avalanche came down at Lamoille Lake in Elko. Broke through the ice, flooded the area below the lake. Area was not rideable as the approach up was filled the biggest, frozen chards of ice. The only climbing in the Rubies was going to be with an ice ax, not a sled!

I can't help but imagine what it would have been like to be riding up that drainage, doing everything right avy wise, and then to see a WALL OF WATER coming rushing towards you.

that would not have been fun had anyone been there.

It happened again this year on Lamoille Lake, is froze over again but washed the creek pretty good.
