That is because they dont have to pay the goverment back any money they barrowed..

Are you sure that is accurate?

From the story linked above...

"Ford also has substantial debt, the result of its 2006 decision to take out a $23.5 billion restructuring loan. But it's making progress repaying that debt. Ford ended the quarter with $16.6 billion in debt, down $2.5 billion from the beginning of the year."

While I applaud Ford, I do have to say that this is a syptom of one of the reasons the economy remains depressed. Many companies are making record profits and sitting on incredible amounts of cash. They are loving the economy because the employees are scared to death. Employees are working more hours for less pay, people who are unemployed are willing work for far less than they are worth just to have a job. This drives up profits making the top cats richer while the middle class take it up the rear again. The big corporations LOVE this economy and have no interest in seeing it end. Hate to sound like I'm a socialist because I'm not, but right
now the economy is at the mercy of big business and they really have no social conscience any more.

$2.6 billion for Ford. Their profit margin is the highest it has been since '98

That and from what I hear Ford liquidated a lot of real estate and prepared for the downturn as the other 2 didn't to be in a better situation when the chit hit the fan before 2008
That and I know the "government motors" thing, but for those of us that are old enough to remember WE bailed out Chrysler in the late 70's, early 80's too..

Let me see if I understand what you're saying here......

You're saying the reason Ford is experiencing success is because their employees (members of the UAW) are working too hard for too little?

Don't piss in my face & try to tell me it's raining!

I love your quote! Just took delivery on a 2011 F150 with 365 HP twin turbo Eco booste engine! It's awesome! No other truck or most cars will even come close when pulling away from a stop sign I was skeptical about the V6 but not anymore! It has torque of a diesel! It will be years befor Government Motors catches up. First the have to pay back $60B+ in loans which will be hard to do when their electric volts catch fire & a few of the (only) 5,000 customers start collecting damages! Buy Private made in America!
