Dan would know for sure, and a few other here, but he's pretty busy. I'd dig through threads here, and Polaris parts fiche. If I remember what I read on it right, they changed the cylinder every year on the Pro 800. I know '13 was the biggest changeover point: you can't swap cylinders between 13-15 and 11/12, at least not without machine work. There may be some interchange within the two sub-variants, but I'd look for confirmation before I try that. A cheaper, possibly just as good option, is to go to one of the places that repairs and replates them (Millennium Technologies seems to be the biggest). They may have one to interchange, or worst case, they can fix yours.

It's not really about the cylinder swap, as this engine also has a crank failure hence why owner is looking at a rebuilt short block. So I'm assuming that one could use either cyl number. But you know what assuming does lol. I am not a Polaris guy so would like to know if bolting all external components and head would all be the same.

Good catch @RHODESIE. I hadn't even thought about the AXYS because that didn't show up in the RMKs until '16. Indeed, the 3022449 cylinder is for the old CFI 800, and 3022554 is the '15 AXYS 800 HO cylinder; that one is '15 only, '16 had a different part number for the 800 HO cylinder. There may be interchange potential for the '15 AXYS cylinder and later motors, but no crossover to the 800 CFI. So yeah, definitely a case of "better safe than sorry."

Okay so do you think there is a problem putting a short block with cylinder marked 554 in a sled that had a 449 ? will exhaust valves etc be the same. If head is different we need to source one out anyway as SB does not come with head. Would call SLP for a take off and assume they would know.

engine mounts are different between the cases. different valve set ups. different exh manifold bolt pattern. opening up a big can of worms trying to switch.
