Custom Single Sled Deck By Covey Built

This is a single sled deck that lays in the bed of your truck with the tail gate down. Ramps roll out of the deck and lock once fully extended. Ramps will never slip out while loading. The frame is made of all aluminum, so it is very light. One man can load and secure in less than 10 minutes. Super Glide comes standard on ramps and deck, to insure safe loading and traction for your feet. Super Clamp ski tie downs optional.
Short box deck $1650
Long box Deck $ 1725

Overall a good Design...

This is a brand new design. Lets hear some feedback.
Thanks,

Caleb

Yes I do think that its a fairly compact well designed deck.
Question- How does it anchor onto the truck?

Where its lacking IMO is the ramp, it needs or I think at least it should have a lip on the outside edges, just to help guide the skis if need be. Which brings me to the other point. If, again in my opinion a ramp that I'm using or purchasing didn't have a lip on its outside edges, it would have that Super clamps product to keep the carbides tracking in the right direction.

But good overall I'd spend the money with the changes made.

The deck anchors to the truck with turn buckles. No drilling required.
The ramps and deck now have super glide on them, so there will be no slipping off. Very good point though. I figured that out pretty quick after i slipped off my ramps a couple times.

I might make the front part a little higher so the ski tips don't rub on the box. I built something very similar way back in the day, but it was mostly out of plywood. Price is pretty high, would be hard for me to justify buying the single over a full size deck.

Very good point about the head board needing to be higher, I have started building them that way.
The reason i would be able to justify spending that kind of money on a deck that only holds one sled is how fast, easy and safe it is to use. With this deck you can load and tie down in less than 45 seconds, and then your sled is nice and safe sitting down low in the bed of your truck. You can also pull most trailers with this deck.
One of the things i like most is that you can unload the deck all by yourself in under 10 minutes.
I designed this deck for myself in the begining, I wanted something fast, easy, light, reliable and i wanted it to look good in my truck. I had hoped that i would be able to do it cheaper than that, but its just not possible yet.
Thanks for the feedback

Looks like a well built unit, I think you'll have a tough time at that price point as you can get a mikey's or toyup that come out of the truck very easily for a similar price.
If you made something similar for the guys with nissans, toyotas, rangers... I think you'd have an easier time selling, as our decks can't compare on those trucks. Those guys are always looking for some solution for getting a sled in the truck.

btw, Caleb is spelled with a k!:p (it was misprinted in the bible, simple mistake...)

Good luck, nice product!

Thanks for the comment on the deck, but i think you might be a little off on the spelling of "Kaleb" lol.
I have not made one yet but i am thinking it will work well to put a short frame under the deck, just tall enough to get you over the wheel well. Then it would be able to go in all the small trucks. My brother has a tacoma so i may build one for him and let him try it out for a season.

-Caleb <<< Correct spelling

yeah, whatever!!

I've talked to so many people looking for some kind of solution for those trucks, I think you'd do well with that.

hard to tell, but is there some type of storage in the unit you've got now?

No dried in storage, but there is a perfect spot for two gas cans in front of the super clamp.

I think you might have more interest if you built them for the midsize trucks, Tacoma, Ranger, S-10, etc. I used to have a Tacoma, actually have had a few Toyotas, and it was always a pain to put sleds in them. They never sat straight, always on one wheel well or the other. Then had to put the ramp in beside the sled. You related to Justus?

Yes I am related to Justus, he is my older brother.
I think you have a good point about making something for the smaller trucks. I was kind of hoping someone would order one before i build it, but no luck yet. I will probably build one soon, and when i do i will get pics up.
