If you are overhauling your engine... replacing the top end or draining the coolant and replacing for some reason... or just want to maximize your cooling system performance.

Here's a "Tech Tip" for ya... a laymans presentation.

Mix your coolant at 60% coolant 40% distilled water if you have the possibility of running in very cold conditions (below -30ºF/-35ºC)... as the Polaris factory does. Don't use a 50/50 mix. More than 65% coolant and you will actually Raise the freezing temperature.

If you are running in more temperate conditions.... where you will never see above, say, -20ºF/-29ºC... then run a 50/50 mix of water and coolant... you will have a little better heat transfer from the engine to the coolant.

For those that ride when it gets warm out say above 0ºF/-17ºC... it can make some difference to run with 25% coolant & 75% distilled water mix... this will give you better heat transfer to the coolant than the 50/50 mix and still give you good corrosion resistance.

If you want max heat transfer.... You can add RedLine WaterWetter™ to 100% distilled water and still have decent corrosion resistance....but you better never see anything above freezing when you use your sled.

ALSO... It is important to use de-ionized or distilled water in your mix... it will not contain other substances that can cause issues in your cooling system.

Note: Adding WaterWetter™ to 50/50 mix does not significantly raise the heat transfer ability of the mix... something I've learned in the last few years :face-icon-small-dis
