Cooke City Snow Conditions 2011/12

Snow is starting to pile up. We have gotten several inches (3-4) in town which usually means quite a bit more than that higher up.

Remember to ask for your SnoWest specials if its not a holiday!

Not much to report, but when it gets better Ill be sure to let you know! There is snow just to point that out, its just not loads of fresh. Just because Cooke is low doesn't mean you can't ride. Call for those online specials if your heading this way!

Good News ... Tuesday, Wed, and Thursday we have decent chances for snow. Then it looks like a clear weekend after that. Ill keep you posted!

Heading up there Thursday night just wandering how the snow is looking up there. Does anyone have any pics from this last weekend?

just got here today and rode for about an hour and a half. was pretty windblown and tracked up. Found some powder in the trees but there is a layer of crust probably due to the sun and wind today. looks like good snow in the forcast though!

Woke up to light snow starting to fall. It is in the forecast for the next several days.

Still snowing. Today's snow looks better than yesterday's. My back driveway was pretty drifted in around the back door. I'm betting there is going to be a LOT of wind-loaded places to play in today. Just be safe!

If you guys use FB you can check out our FB page there which I try to update as well. There is seriously too much stuff to keep updated :D! I need to be able to type it once and have it do everything.

No snow

He is joking. There is no snow and its not snowing in Cooke. Everyone should just stay home. I'll let you all know next week if there was any good snow or not.

Its coming down AGAIN this morning and without the wind. I thought it was supposed to clear up but I guess I was wrong, and thats a GOOD thing!!

Its cleared up and gotten colder this morning (around 12 degrees). Town was packed for the holiday weekend but traffic will drop off sharply now. The forecast says it will stay clear for most of the week with possible strong winds all week long. That's not good for our power, I'll keep my fingers crossed. Snow should start up again by the weekend.

Tomorrow and Friday are showing chances of snow. Ill let you know what happens. As usual if you call us, mention you saw us here online for a little more off your room rates.

been snowing all morning here in town. I didnt even see this on the forecast??? Tuesday there is a LARGE chance of snow here.

Cooke got a few inches yesterday.

The avalanche conditions are much safer than the previous weekend though caution should still be used. Had a CT6 at about 2 feet then the next was near the bottom. The other column tests didn't show the weak layer at 2 feet so that might have been random (not really sure). This was on a north facing slope, not wind loaded, mostly shaded (goose creek).

Coverage is pretty good, but with the lack of snow a lot the area is tracked up.

Not sure about the forecast.

Lots of snow coming down with heavy winds though for the past 24 hours or so. Coming through the park last night around midnight we had to stop at times and let the wind die so we could see the road. It was drift busting most of the way through. If the park would have more snow, the drifts would have closed the road. I'll let you know how this adds up but for now and those who are coming already BE CAREFUL. There are going to be some heavily loaded areas.

DUMPING in Cooke. We have had loads of snow over the past 2 weeks+. Avy conditions will be high!
