Chain Case oil

So i don't want to sound like an idiot but i don't have the owners manual to the sled i bought 3 months ago (2012 proclimb m800)and was wondering if anyone had a how to on changing the chain case oil? i'm guessing that its behind the muffler because i can't see it anywhere else. i haven't dug that deep into it yet. any info will help thanks.

Remove muffler Drill small hole in bottom of plastic, belly pan. Loosen Chain case bolts all of them. Let it drain out. get a lot of rags because it makes a mess. I installed drain plug on mine so I don't have to loosen bolts. Fill to half way line with chaincase oil. I use Dextron Mercon 3 it's cheaper. and I change it around every 500 miles. Put everything back together

Was drain plug out of 04 Firecat. drilled cover, tapped it. to same size as plug and used silcone around it just to help seal it up.

OK - how much a year do these engineers at Cat make? Whatever it is it is too much. Why would you not design it with a drain plug?? That is idiotic. It should have a drain plug, and magnetized to catch any small fragments. Ignorance.

Same as having to remove the entire hood on these things in the middle of nowhere just to put some water in the cooling system because they did not get a clamp on right on the front exchanger at the factory. Once again, ignorance.

that came from market research, people wanted a mulit piece hood that was in there mind cheaper to replace in a crash, they also wanted a hood that was held down with screws so it wouldn't fly open in a crash..........who those people are I have no idea

but I remember plenty of people in the M section back in 2009/2010/2011 that wanted a hood just like the XP and Pro..............why??????...........I have no freaking idea

No it is a rubber gasket/ oring
And I think around 12 oz , Just watch the site glass on the side of chaincase cover

About 12 oz is right. I just swapped my track and the new bottle I bought was 12 oz. kept pouring until it was 1/2 was up th site glass and... whaddaya know the bottle was empty.

WHAT IS SO WRONG WITH HAVING A HOOD??????????? all the sleds have gone away from them and i dont know why? i love working on my M because of that fact alone. dont get me wrong, i love my proclimb but some things are better on the M!
