Brp going broke????

I find it hard to believe that the company could possibly turn any profit with all the problems they have had on the last two years sleds. I'm constantly hearing of how bad off arctic cat is and they're actually selling a solid product. Brp must be a huge and powerfull company to stay afloat with products like they put out in the last two years...Oh yeah if you own an xp, you better get your belts now, I've heard from a few different people that they're running out and they are on backorder.

I think there atv and seadoos are keeping them going. On the other hand I sure do see a lot of xp every where I ride. So even with the problems they still seem to sell lots of sleds. I guess it is the price people will pay to think they have the latest and greatest
sled out there. Once all the bugs are worked out they will be a good sled.

I believe it is hit and miss, and probably depends on the dealer a guy goes to. I have heard lots of problems with the 07' rev's, and yet still bought a hold over this year, have had zero issues and have 850 miles on it, it runs better than any of my buddies other brands! Oh yeah clutching kicks ***, still running original belt!!! Seems like my buddies arctic cats have been in the shop every week or two, wanna talk about recalls buy a new M series sled!!!

Sleds are a small portion of BRP's business. You have forgotten about their ATV line, Sea Doo, Evinrude, Bombardier aviation, and other aspects of the corporation that I'm sure I don't know about.

groomers, trains, Spyder...

I'm not 100% certain but I thought that when 'Ski-doo' became BRP, it became its own seperate business unit apart from the trains, planes, and groomers (which are much more profitable than the recreational products). One of the big things that BRP has going for them is their marketshare. I'm not sure how they stack up in ATV's but I know that they are #1 on the snow and thought they were #1 (or close to it) on the water.

Can the mods change the thread title to "I'm clueless, let me tell you why"

IMO, buy a yami if you want a plug and play machine

Or buy a doo and have the most fun you have ever had on a sled, expect to toss a few ducks at parts and what not.......its still a rev, they all eat parts

Fun fact: doo made a trillion dollars on belts the last few years......im sure the recall on the white 166 is no big deal

It's right in the name BRP! That stands for Bombarier Recreational Products. It became a separate company when it was sold off to members of the Bombardier family a couple of years ago. BRP is the snowmobile, ATV, outboard, watercraft and the newest spyder roadster group of products. So if these vehicles start losing money they won't have the rest of the company to come to the rescue. They were losing money before, thats why shareholders voted to sell it off to increase capital. So now they will have to just go directly to the Canadian government, hat in hand. So we all can bail them out for the who knows how manyth time.

from wiki

During restructuring operations in 2003 the original snowmobile and tracked utility vehicle division was spun off as a separate company, though majority ownership remained with the Bombardier family. Though the company is a major manufacturer of two stroke engines and four stroke motors for several industries it is better known for its consumer recreational products.

They now make Ski-Doo and Lynx brand snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, Sea-Doo personal watercraft, jet boats, and evinrude and johnson outboard motors (through the purchase of Outboard Marine Corporation) and two-stroke cycle engines for inshore motorboat racing. They also produce motorcycle motors, kart motors, and small airplane motors, through their Rotax division.

its called diversification!

but your right just stay away from the XP, who would want one of the best sleds on the market anyway. I heard on snowest they are blowing belts like crazy, just ask those ten guys on here who know everything;)

Bombardier aviation Do they use still use rotax engines?? Now that's scary can you say mayday mayday were going down.

If you havent noticed they dont work out their bugs. they just come out with new stuff. like 2007 they had motor issues so to cover it up they bring a new chasis for 08. It will be interesting to see how they cover up all of this years issues with next years models

BRP is owned by Bain Capital. An American based company. They have a habit of squeezing every last cent out of a company and then leaving it for dead.

ever bought parts for a doo? they don't make any money selling sleds, they make all the profit selling us shleps parts. every part i buy for a doo is at least twice the cost of everyone else!!!!

Hey ActionFigureJoe...do you care to expand on your statement of 'squeezing the last cent out of companies and then leaving them for dead'?

I don't think that BRP is anywhere near dead. Here are some other companies that Bain has purchased since '84 and if I'm not mistaken, they are still alive and doing well:

Staples
Burger King
Burlington Coat
Dominos Pizza
BRP
Guitar Center
3Com

I'm sure I left a few off the list but I believe that all of these companies are still performing well. Not to mention what one of Bain's founders did to turn around the '02 Winter Games.

Exactly my thoughts....the Doo division of BRP has very rich parents as you go up the ladder.

2007 Q1 - $3,967,000,000 Total revenue
2007 Q1 - $613,000,000 Gross profit
2007 Q2 - $4,041,000,000 Total revenue
2007 Q2 - $613,000,000 Gross profit
2007 Q3 - $4,228,000,000 Total revenue
2007 Q3 - $625,000,000 Gross profit

Seem to be doing ok to me.

There are no were near as many problems with Doo's as the internet makes it seem like. Since this is the net and you can talk to people all over the world, it seems like every single one of them has problems. There are tons of them that work perfectly fine, but they dont come on here telling you that, they are out having fun!

Let's move ATV production to Mexico.

Let's move ATV production to Mexico.

I'm still not sure how that is going to 'sucks every penny out of the company and then leave them for dead.' I'm going to guess that you just might be a pissed off production line worker who got laid off? I don't like the fact that jobs are leaving the US and going elsewhere. But the fact of the matter is that this is happening more and more every day. Don't be pissed off at the BRP executives or Bain Capital...get pissed off at the legislators who let these business move their production facilities and make them keep these guys here.
