How are they? Better, worse or the same as a Pro?

Snow check end is coming soon. Just looking for a few more ride reports before its it ends. With the low snow one would think there would be a few trail reports at least.

Its worse. Signifigantly IMO. Don't get caught sleeping in the corners or it will send you for a ride.

I've read the same thing a few times here. With the higher CG it's not as trail friendly as a pro.

It is light, fast and fun on the trail. No DOUBTWe all know if you adjust the preload on the front rail shock, it would help the ski pressure.

However, it would suffer in the trees if you go too far with that.

Find the happy medium that you can live with and go for it.

Who cares it's a mountain sled.

There are A LOT of people who buy mountain sleds that don't have the luxury of riding in the mountains. I live in the NE and do my sledding in the backwoods of New Brunswick, Canada. Trails are a necessity in order to access the areas we like to ride.

How the new Axys handles trails is of some interest to many people.

Straight from the Polaris marketing team, that is what the SKS is marketed for.
The PRO RMK is not a trail sled. The SKS is the versatile multi-niche sled.

It's more squirrely in the corners but a better bump ride vs Pro. I am used to a XM and found the road manners very similar.

The differences between the two sleds are not going to effect trail handling.....

Does the SKS have the higher center like the Pro RMK or is it more like the RUSH or Switchback?

As far as I know, the chassis is exactly the same. The only difference is the front cooler, bogie wheels, chaincase, only offered in 155, and the sticker on the side.

I have confirmation from Polaris.
SKS has the exact same rider position as the Pro RMK.
Center of gravity is nearly identical to the Pro RMK as well (very slight, but basically negligent difference, given the weight of the chaincase vs QD and bulkhead cooler)

If it's similar to the Xm then it's not to bad. With the Xm I let it tip up and let the outside ski take some weight and it does alright.

Much like the pow, it's the rider, not the sled.

Sure, a better riding and handling sled is nice. Doesn't matter - just get us there without overheating or sliders sticking.

There are some great crossovers out there - SB Assault, Renny Back Country, Viper XTX, Cat High Country. And they'll make you a better rider in the pow, but also leave you behind on those deep days. Every sled has it's pluses and minuses, nothing does it all, but if the Axys or Pro is best in the pow for me, and can get me there, that's all that matters.

I suppose the assaults ski stance would help on the twisties. But there goes the flickability. What to do, what to do?

Get a RMK Assault if you're going airborne. If not, suffer the Axys Pro or SKS on the trail.

This is what I'm buying....best of all worlds, at least for me.

I had an SBA and found it no less flickable than my Pro....just didn't have enough track and was a bit of a trencher.
