Auto Tensioner Replacement

Anybody have a good suggestion for an Auto-Tensioner replacement?

I have a 2015 HCR 153" track and just bought a set of Team HYVO gears (20/49 ratio) and a HYVO chain and I would like to get rid of the auto tensioner.

Any suggestions?

I don't like the idea of drilling my chain case. Isn't there an internal only option? :face-icon-small-con

Thanks the only post I found that had solid info was in regards to a M1100.

http://www.snowest.com/forum/showthread.php?t=340143

His part list included:

2602-465 adjuster block
0123-150 Nut
1602-101 Screw, Cap
1702-261 Arm, Tensioner

What makes me nervous is I also saw people saying you need part 1702-241 (mot 1702-261)...

Is this ONLY for the M1100?

I like this solution because there is no metal on metal roller but instead a slide...

I used the Yammi parts on my 12 keeping the original case. Drilling was easy enough with an angled drill head. Works great. Reduced vibration.

I also used the yammi parts on my '14, was like $50-60 if I remember correctly

Is the list above Yamaha part numbers?

I would love to have a complete list of items needed as well.

I agree, if we can do this without having to drill new holes in the chain case, so much the better.

the 600 sno pro runs the same roller set up as the yami. all the above i posted are cat numbers and the only thing you need left is 1 9/16 nut out of the parts bin as im too cheap to pay 1.50 for it from cat

I run the osp setup. I have a 12 and a 16 with them. Easy install and tuff as nails. Less vibration and smoother drive to reverse. I had the auto tensioner pos take out my inner and outer case and everything else inside during some of the best conditions all winter last year. Not fun changing that inner case! I put the manual tensioner on the 16 the day I bought it....

Few things i want to note to this thread.
1, insert the L bracket into the case, take an pencil and mark the hole from inside and remove the L bracket. use a 90* drill or drill adapter to drill a pilot hole. then drill the larger hole from the out side.
2, when tightening up the cover work your way around in opposite sides and only snug up the cover or you will break off the painfully thin bolt hole loops. this is a chity design. you just have to seal it from gravity not pressure.

True story,

I did mine before last season, put it together everything was fine but after the first ride one of the top bolt tabs was cracked out. Musta been right on the verge when I installed the cover and flexed a bit. It was at the top so I've just been running it.

Osp chain tensioner. Only thing I don't like about it is they leave the holes where it slides over the pin in the chain case a little large. Works, but they could have been machined a little nicer to a closer fit.

What are the Yamaha parts?

I dont have part #s but its just the manual tensioner from the new viper. The viper has a roller instead of the plastic slider that comes stock. Pull up a microfiche for the viper and you'll see what ya need.

I have the stm on mine. So far no problems. Mine is the 1100T though.

Is that only internally adjusted? Or do you drill the chain case with the Viper parts?

Also... Dumb question... But is the oil tank the cover for the chain case? What do I have to take off to change the gears and tensioner?
