are the xp's tough?

in the first 12 miles i was upset with the strength. I came down sideways off of a five foot snow bank on to the ground, and the a arm moved back bout 3/4 in. I was thinkin 37% stronger than a crate of eggs. The next day i let my buddy drive it and he smacked a culvert at 15-20 mph with the opposite side a arm, and it moved about the same distance back. with that i can consider that it is much stronger being i tapped a rock back in 2000 with my zx chassis having to replace radious rods and a trailing arm

I have had no strength issues.....I have smacked a couple rocks with my skis, one about through me off the sled and no damage. Today I was launching it off of wind drifts getting about 15ft of air and no damage. I did go through 2 belts in two days of riding though, 3 feet of powder is too much not to go all out and tear it up....

It's kinda hard to say, ya it's strong... Look at it this way, BRP is trying to make the best sled they can and make it as light as humanly possible. Something has to give. Show me a 420 lbs. light weight sled thats built like a tank...

If you want a sled you can run into trees, rocks, railway tracks, and Iceburgs without even a scratch then buy an old powder specail or any of those old cats that were heavy and built like tanks. They were built to take the abuse... I know first hand.

I'll take my Xp any day!

That's exacaldat..I've had phazers,revs,polaris's,even a couple of yammy's,numersous quads,rhino, dirt bikes...they can all bend/break, just depends on what you hit and how..luck of the draw..on a brighter point, just got back from my first XP trip to Quarts, lots of fresh, sled worked awesome, no beltisuues(full ventkit), and ran it hard after a 30 k break-in..I've had 5 different revs, and this one is best(so far)

So now when both pushed back it's even and you dont have to repair it.

good. I was nervous only bent the lower arm. My brothers and I have had a

bunch of sleds over the years and this xp is a complete winner !!! work out a

few bugs like all new models and this thing RIPS!!!! Ride on . Jim

Believe me, This is gotta be one tough sled. I've seen (fixed) some of JSLEDS finest work

I went riding with a buddy of mine and he thumped some good rocks and it held up. I thought it would be toast after seeing the hit but it was fine and nothing wrong with it. The sled is awesome i would buy one if i could afford it.

I guess I'm the only "unlucky" guy here. I think there are a lot of sleds that don't have their shocks centered in the a-arms anymore. Take a peek. That's a quick way to tell. My 15 mph sure twisted mine up good. New a-arm and s-module.

I just read your post about wrecking your XP (and your thumb)...I dont know if I would consider that a weak front end. If you hit that same rock with any other sled, you would probably have at least as much damage, probably more!! And...you were able to ride the rest of that day and still ride out. To me, thats some pretty impressive engineering. (I'm also impressed you rode the rest of the day with a broken thumb and messed up UCL).

I know SkiDoo has a bad rap from the Rev Nun days...but lets also give credit where its due!!

My '06 REV took a lot more hits(bigger one's too)than my XP did. I guess I got lucky with my '06 and unlucky with the '08, eh? I know it's tough to compare a "hit" with any other hit as obviously they are going to be different. And yes I know they are not made to hit rocks, logs, trees, etc. That being said, the new XP is much cheaper and easier to fix than the REV, but it looks like they will continue the trend of "bending" bulkheads. Every XP rider should look at their shock posistion; I think a lot of guys will be surprised. Other than that, I LOVE MY XP

The key to what happened to your XP is when you say you landed sideways...the nun is warping under sideways loading. Going forward and hitting something works like a charm..no damage. A little bit of forward motion and hit it from the side or at an angle and a new nun is needed. Yes, one shock goes back while the other goes forward. Been riding mine for weeks like that and will till the Powder dies down and they get s-modules off back order. Great toy it is!
