anti stab kit??

you don't need one till its too late. stock or not doesn't matter if the track is a little loose and you hit just the right obstacle or hard patch of snow you can spear the track windows with your rail tips. used to think it was the perfect storm type of thing but several people did it last year. the anti-stab kit is another axle w/ wheels that mounts between the very front tip of your rails and the wheels will contact the track and keep it off the rail tips.

I've ridden 3.0" pitch cat's for six years now and have gotten away without one BUT that all changed on the 27'th of December when all the stars aligned for me and the disaster which is a stabbed/completely blown off track happened. Ruined a good day was a nightmare to get towed out and I could
have been injured pretty good as I did a superman, luckily there was fresh snow and an open area I landed in so needless to say I will now be advocating for people to run a anti-stab kit as when this does happen it can get quite costly and it's just downright dangerous!

get one just for the sake of not having to worry about it, it really is rare to see happen ive never seen one do it in over 5k miles on M's but it only takes once.
i bought the kit last year just cause i seen pictures of what happened to someone online... lol
if you go BDX make sure you lock tite the hell out of the outer wheels bolts, both mine came loose with blue lock tite i lost one side and the other was loose. i have red lock tite on both sides now and they have been good since.

BUY ONE, IT IS CHEAP INSURANCE!!!! when it does happen you'll need a track at about 600 bux, two rails, the hardware ect....and the anti stab, so it dont happen again. and IT WONT BE CHEAP NOR EASY TO DO.
like the old fram oil filter commercial said..... "you can pay alittle now, or ALOT later".
it takes four bolts to pull the skid out, you loosen both the limiter strap cross bar, and the front shock on the rear suspension cross shaft alittle, to give access to the anti stab cross shaft. you drill the holes in the rail tip protector large enough to let the bolt go through to the shaft. then tighten the bolts for all the shafts.
it takes all of about an hour to do it from start to finish.... skid in, skid out, skid in, and clean up. dont gamble, or you'll be on here asking how to replace your track and rails. my .02 ski

It's the little broken tree's under the snow that will get you. I'd buy one or this could be you.

I just stabbed mine on my m1000 last week. luckily I was going really slow. My track had about 4 inches of slack in it when you pulled down in the middle with the rear lifted. I came up over the side of a road with some ice clumps under fresh snow and it pushed the track up into the rail and smashed the plastic rail tip and put a small 1 inch rip in the outer side of my track. my track is still runnable so i got super lucky but now im scared to go up in the mountains with a partially torn track. The other thing I did wrong was putting the front of my skid into the lower hole. I don't recommend doing that without the anti-stab kit for sure!

After watching the track get stabbed on a buddies sled that ruined a day of good riding for him and also cost him a sled rental and skimmer to get his sled out I recommend one. I am ordering one up this week.

We think my buddy who had a power claw on his dragon aith an anti stab actually stabbed his track when is landed on a stump then went into the throttle wfo and broke his track in half. Luckily we were 100 yard from groomed trail so towing the sled out on the slides wasn't bad. It took two sleds hooked to it to get it to the trail though. What a mess. It actually bent the anti stab axle and you can see a little rubber in the tip of the rail just in front of the anti stab axle. He also had an AlphaX skid so there are a lot of variables there that I can't figure the actual cause but it looked like it tried to stab. He even bent his rails. $$$$$$$$

I know that this is somewhat off topic, but what track tension are you supposed to run these powerclaw tracks? I have an 08 M 1000 sno pro a powerclaw, and I haven't adjusted it since buying it. I did just order the anti stab kit from BDX yesterday, though. Now I just need to know how tight I need to run the track.

If you have a powerclaw without an anti-stab kit, you need to run them pretty tight. They are supposed to have 3/4" sag at the lowest point with no weight applied. If you install the anti-stab kit, you can run them looser. I am currently running mine with 1-3/4" sag with the anti-stab kit and it works great.

Yes, and Yes...basically the idea anyway.
Anti Stab kit = $80
New powerclaw = $700
New rails = $300
New Hi-fax = $100
Helicopter for sled out of backcountry = $3000???
You get the idea. Stabbing is way more common on these tracks then just a freak accident. At some point it probably will happen, for $80 why chance it.

Is this an M problem has anyone had it happen on their older M5 or M7 141? just wondering if i should put one on my xfire cuz i do run my track loose, why wouldnt I? I have anti ratchets. Another thing, when I jump over even somewhat small obstacles and set it down hard I get a noise maybe like my track rubbing on my tunnel maybe? Or is it just the track loosening up? Just thought of that, any thoughts?
