The following article appeared in the 04/30/13 Yakima Herald-Republic (the title was revised due to it being inaccurate - the existing/previous years groomer contract holder has every right to rebid for the job):

AHTANUM SNOWMOBILE GROOMING CONTRACT UP FOR BID
(ie, (Ahtanum changing snowmobile groomers))

Contracts for the snowmobile grooming program in the Ahtanum State Forest will be up for bid this summer, with the bid process being overseen by Washington State Parks.

The new contract will begin in the 2013-14 winter season and run from Dec. 15 through March 31 each year. Grooming contracts typically span several years to allow the contracted groomer time to recoup equipment costs. The bid for the contract will be for grooming only; plowing of Ahtanum State Forest winter recreation sites are covered by the Department of Natural Resources through Discover Pass revenues.

For more information on the grooming program and the bid process, contact Devin Dekker, chair of the Yakima County Grooming Council, an advisory group to Washington State Park’s winter recreation program, at 509-972-4839 or devin@greenacrefarms.com.

Prospective bidders should register with the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services at www.des.wa.gov/services/ContractingPurchasing/Business/Pages/WEBSRegistration.aspx.

Please let anyone know that is interested to contact myself (info above) or the Washington State Department of Parks and Recreation for more information. Also remember that this is a state bid process and must go through the state regulatory system. We also run the risk of nobody bidding for the contract or accepting the bid. The Yakima County Grooming Council is only an advisory group and has no part in the bid process.

I just put this out there to make people aware of the Ahtanum grooming contract situation.

Thanks,

Tampico
