98 zr600 Stator question

My water sled started running like crap and I thought it was dropping a piston, I checked the compression and it's just over 100 on the mag side and 120 on the pto side. I pulled the jugs and both pistons show scoring so I'm going to replace them. I don't think that is the whole problem so I checked the stator I know it's supposed to be

brown/green 450
brown black 530
green black 45

Mine ohm'd

brown/green 422
brown/black 466
green/black 44

What's the allowable tolerance or is this stator bad?

422 doesn't mean it is 100% bad, but it could be getting a bit weak. When you get it running again measure the stator ohms when cold/before you start your motor and then again after you run it for a bit..5-10 minutes. When hot they usually get up to 550-600 ohms. If it gets really high...650-700ohms or more..it could be a sign that it has a bad low side coil. When cold a good factory stator is in the ballpark of 430-450..once it gets under 420-430-ish...that can be a sign it is going bad. If it EVER measures HIGHER than 450...it IS BAD. I've tested numerous stators that were 452, 454, 455 ohms ect...and they were all bad. Ohms are based on the length of wire so there is no way you can get more ohms on a stator unless there is more resistance...which means the stator has internal shorting ect..making it go bad. I know it is a bit oof a wishy washy answer..but sometimes stators die all of a sudden and sometimes they die a slow death...
