98 ZL 440 wont idle

Hi my ZL 440 won't idle, it was leaking gas really bad out the water traps, so I replaced those, but after I finally got it started it wouldn't idle on its own. I thought I should adjust the idle screw, but my dad thought there was a lot of smoke coming out of it and though it was running rich. Any ideas on how to fix this? thanks

I cleaned the carbs it was really easy and now it idles nicely. One of the carbs was all green, so i cleaned it out nice and now it runs perfect.
