Do they have a cold start injector? Most engines do to give an extra shot of fuel when cold. Is it possible that this ethanol fuel is leaner and not enough is injected when cold? Kinda goes back to the cold start injector thing. Had an early eighties camaro that would not start and found out it had a cold start injector. Replaced the fuse and it started right up.
I have never had a problem with mine. I wonder if the fuel pump winding is going out in the stator so it isn't giving the fuel pump enough power to prime the system.
