Please explain to me what the clickers are suppose to do according to your knowledge ?

DPG

The new clickers in the pdrive clutch are not the best choice for me because if you change the Position you not only change the top rpm, you also change the engage rpm. If you want 300 more top rpm on the mountains you also get a 300 more engage rpm. The new clickers change not only the top rpm, they move the whole rpm range up or down.....

Maybe....we don't know that for sure yet. Although it does look like that may be the case.

That's max rpm. Not max hp rpm. Big difference. The 800 makes its best power at 7900-8000

i live near the rotax facility and my Buddy engineers the new 850 etec......

you can provide hp once with rpm or otherwise with more engine displacement.....

so they on the new Motor they went down with rpm so they had to give the Motor 50cc more to get nearly the same hp than the 800 etec......

I walked out in my garage and took this picture of my 2013 Xm 800. Looks like max hp is 7800-8000

he said that was also to Limit the loudness of the Motor to fulfill the db regulations....

once i drove a test Motor. it was the old 800 ptek. they removed the rev limiter, so the Motor cranked out 9500 rpm and with a little more modifications like pipe and airbox and so, they get more than 180 hp out.... the only Problem was that the Motor, especially the Pistons lasts only 15 hours.......

Lower peak rpm usually makes an engine last longer. I'm impressed that skidoo can make the 850 spin at 7700-7900 and still make 165hp. Should be a torquey engine. Hopefully they can continue the trend they are on and make more power at the lower rpm and get more torque out of it. Should make it less picky about clutching.

i agree. the Motor normally should last about 320h they said.......

The torque of the new Motor should be very impressive they said, especially in the mid range. also the fuel economy should be way better. with the new engine you don't Need to pull the throttle as hard as you have to do it by the 800cc....

The 80mm stroke will be a torque-MONSTER....
With amazing bottom end response, like only a large stroke can give.

.

There will be alot of crank taps cut of before new year. They have the same crank tap end as the cat 1100 crank tap, with a flat spot to use to turn crank.
If you would attach an L&S dyno to it, the end has to be cut flush with the taper.
Wonder why they made such a design to a 2s tap.

Try a different primary spring, changing clicker up or down should have zero effect on engagement .

i asked the rotax guys about the new pdrive clutch. I thought you could only Change the engage rpm of the clutch by changing the Primary spring?! The said yes, but on the new clutch, as you can see it in the Video, you Change the whole Position of the ramps out and in and additionally the inclination.
So the wole rpm range moves up and down. If you cange the top rpm up or down, you also Change the engange rpm the same up and down......
Thats what the rotax guys told me......

here is the Video. look at time 3:18 and you can see the movement of the clicker.

We won't really know until we begin fussing around with this clutch. I can see why you'd think the whole rpm range moves but with the shape of the ramps they could minimalize how much the engagement rpm changes

it's not my thinking about the function. i asked the rotax engineers about the function of the new clutch, because i was really impressed of the new design.
But one of them told me, he is also a former snowcross racer here in Austria, that he is not satisfied with the new clickers because of the Change of the whole rpm range especially the Change of the Engagement......

this is only Information directly out of the rotax facility.......
