680 triple ultra power output?

Hi guys,
I was wondering if anybody knew the stock horsepower of the 1996 polaris Ultra 680? Mine is not stock , but I want to compare it to my stock Doo 800 mxz. My 680 has SLP pipes and V-force reeds and I want to race it against my 800 mxz. I have a feeling that the old ultra will take the newer ski doo!

Does anyone know the max horsepower you can get out of the old triple 680?
Seems like with pipes and a couple other small mods these old sleds really rock!
Happy new year everyone!

I think stock hp on the ultra was a sad 105 or 110. Polaris didn't do thier homework on the stock exhaust is my guess. When it first came out slp offered 2 different sets of pipes for it, one that ran stock rpm and gave it 35hp, or one that ran it at 8700rpm and gave it 43hp which i think is the only set you can still get. So to say that pipes woke this sled up is an understatement. Then if you add reeds and heads it makes it that much sweeter. Or go one step further and put a BB 800 kit on it and hold on. It is definitly a good old motor and in a flat out race should take the doo, out in the snow is another story.

Mtnclimber19 is correct. But I agree with Happyfast 79 on the best pipes for that engine. Polaris detuned them from the factory, because they were beating their Storms.:D:D

I know I have SLP pipes on my 680. Mtnclimber19 says SLP had 2 different models of pipes, so I am not sure what model I have. I looked on the SLP website looking for performance gains, jetting charts, clutch tuning advice and I cannot find any info on the 680 pipes. The SLP 600 pipes say the add 23hp. Where do I find the info that says pipes on the 680 add 43hp? I would also like info on timing with the triple pipes.
thanks

call slp they can verifiy which pipe u have. there are id numbers on the pipes or should be. they only made a limited run of the 32 hp pipes in 95. so i would think you have the 43 to 47 hp pipes. stock hp was 115 at 2500 feet on the dyno we run mine on in 96. my 96 ultra was 155 at 2500 feet at 8700 rpms on stock motor with trail porting, heads i was right at 165 on the dyno. with proper gearing and set up the ultra takes most of the new sleds on top speeds depending on how far rick

Slp made three different sets of pipes. High rpm Lake racer 8700/8800 rpm with three individual stingers. Then they made the same basic pipe set that ran same rpm with a Can, much quiter. and the third set ran at basically stock rpm levels like 8100 to 8200 rpms. My 96 dyno'd at 142hp in 1998 with slp's with the stingers, v-force reads and Slp heads. The Scud will most likely get her out of the hole but after that the old ultra will make it look slow.

The ultra engine was way ahead of its time and POlaris did detune it because it was faster thean the Storm. There was a single pipe that was pre production that made around 120 hp but it never made it to production. When you put on the pipe be it PSI or SLP, Aeen there are alot of things to consider to get the best power. SLP said to back the timing off to 12 deg at low elevation. If you did this you would be lucky to make 135 hp but it would live. if you left it stock it would make over 155 but not live on pump gas. It really depends on you elevation on how much corrected hp you can make but observed hp it seems that 150 is about the max on 91 octane.
