some say 500 hare diesel engine and they do not make good snowbike but it the only one i did try . hp from 450 sx to compare to 500 can it be comparable or there is no way it can be . and the 2018 500 vortec ecu in that hp race were will it be ? . i ask all those question because i have good deal on low hour 2016 and i will ride it in the summer also .

I had a 2014 500 which I don't think is much different than a 2016. It worked great with a 2016 TS long track. I doubt it is 62hp but it will have plenty of power. Should be a good choice if you plan to run it with wheels in the summer as well.

I've had three snowbikes. 2010 te510 husky, 17 450 fx, and currently on a 2018 500exc with vortex and emissions removed. I prefer the 500 exc to those and I prefer it to my buddies 19' 450xc (same engine as sx). I much prefer the 6 speed trans of the exc and it has best torque of the 4. The '16 ktm 500s were very reliable engines. Fwiw.

the 2018 vortex ecu , how does it compare to ? i had 2017 euro map and desmog but was slower than 2016 for sure . i am afraid to go 2017 up again i was disapointed about hp . they say vortex or GET ecu but not sure if they talk about real good hp comparable to 450 or just realy good upgrade from the slow 2017 engine .

Fwiw, I hate this new format. Can't search what I want and can't quote.
Cisco, not sure what your asking. I did not ride the bike in the snow prior to the vortex ecu so, no comparison to stock. I have the vortex, throttle bore and open exhaust. It has more torque than my buddies 450xc. They are very close in a race across a lake or even in a climb. I've not compared to a 2016, and no experience with euro map.

I got a ktm 500 specifically because it has more torque and I thought it would equate to less shifting. I Demo’d some 450’s and I think it depends on the kind of riding you’re gonna do. its also very relative to which kit you have...so many options.

Click on the reply button from his post, it will quote his response in the quick reply window. First screenshot has the button you need for quoting circled in yellow.

Then it looks like the second screen shot I attached, replying to you.

Exactly. It took me a little bit to figure that the quote button does not mean quote but the “reply” button does.

that is good enough for me i will go for the 500 vortex or get ecu . i did read 39 hp stock 500 and 53 hp if vortex ecu . it lest i will drive it this summer on the street and go snowbike this fall .

now i have to figure track kit . 129 timbersled is nice i do not like the open window on the side for ripping track out . here in quebec we ride in not so good snow condition , season is short . camso have the nices track in my opinion but the skid is not so . i need 129 timber and camso track on it .
