2024 300 XC-W mods ?

i have:
2024 300 xc-w
yeti 120

after reading lots of build threads, i agree with the mad builders. 100HP would be nice.
all of the major builds seem like one offs. i just want to click on amazon and have it delivered.

in the meantime, I was thinking some simple bolt-ons:

TSP ERM (not looking to do endless tuning, but something might need tuning after the base map)
TSP head insert - high comp (is RKTech better ?)
TSP Power valve cover (hey, it might help, it's cheap)
Scalvini pipe + carbon mx can (they make a shorty, but i don't need a loud exhaust)
(hard to justify a carbon guard, when it costs almost as much as the pipe)
vforce reeds (i'm told this could help, but i don't know)
base gasket - ??? (not sure if this is critical to do, which one to get, or if i then need to mill the head or cylinder to make up for the thicker gasket)

am i planning something wrong here, or is there something i could do better to get some simple HP gains ?

thx for any pointers

ps.
i pretty much gave up trying to ride my snowmobile, i'm much happier on the snowbike.

Glad to see more two-stroke riders. Base mods would be raise cylinder with a thicker base gasket and get the compression back with the hc head. Give it lots of fuel and oil on the top end of the map. Don't let the EPA do any tuning for you. Make sure the pipe is got some overrev. The carbon guard will hold some heat and help light up a few milliseconds faster but not necessary.

Gear ratios will be sloppy but if you experiment with some different ratio sprockets you can make it work. Don't be afraid to slip the crap out of the clutch at times it actually makes tons of extra torque when you do.

good point about the other function of a carbon pipe guard. i suppose i could get the guard or just wrap it with heat tape.

i feel like IF the high-comp insert is intended to be good as produced, then if i install a thicker base gasket without any milling, i'm leaving some easy gains on unexploited. i mean, it seems like we're always riding 6-10k feet, so doing base gasket/high-comp/mill would be the way to go, even with pump gas.

do you have a part number for the base gasket i should use? or am i supposed to use two of the stock base gaskets?

i have no problems with the gearing, it seems fine. i'm guessing most new riders never learned how to ride a two stroke, so maybe it's hard for them, but it's easy for me.

i am a bit concerned about how to figure out the map, that area is not really my specialty. in the past, for race bikes, I just used a dyno and had some expert do the dirty work with the power commander settings.

Getting the exhaust Port higher without cutting your cylinder is the goal. About 1mm higher is the sweet spot on a 300 and puts it at the same height of a 250sx. But that is more than 1 base gasket. The thickest stock gasket is .75mm but they normally come with a .25 i think. Anybody selling heads should be able to cut you one higher if you tell them what your doing with the gasket but if you can't tune your own map, your playing with fire. How much are you spending on the tsp set up? I haven't looked into it but can you just buy a 300x cylinder and flash the stock 300sx tune?

it's about $900 for the ERM+head+insert+PV Cover.

i put the same questions to TSP in southbay.....to summarize he said:
<<....over thinking your project..... All you need is an ERM, High comp TSP head and PV cover......Leave base gasket and everything else stock....>>>

if i just do that, then their replacement maps shouldn't need much, if any, modification. i guess i might start there, and then when the rings need replacing, i can consider the base gasket. keep it simple for now. we'll see. Thx for the info.
