Hey y’all. Looking into doing a track swap on my 2017 M8000 LTD..
the sled currently has a 162x3” 3.0 pitch track.
I’m looking to install a 146x2.6” (2.86 pitch)
Has anyone done this? What can I expect for fitment and clearance? Ideally going with a 7 or 8 tooth driver. Any advice is appreciated, thanks! 781FF731-E0E8-4016-B1E5-59BCB5983D31.jpeg

Mathematically a 8T 3.0P driver has a diameter of 7.64" and a 3" paddle does fit with that. Even if you went to a 9T 2.86P the driver diameter would be 8.19". 8.19"-7.64"=0.55" difference in diameter which is only about 1/4" difference in clearance. And since you are running the 0.4" shorter lug track it should still fit even with the 9T.

Not sure how you plan to do the tunnel, but the shorter tunnels have a steeper taper on the bottom and the OEM bumper holes don't line up anymore if you cut the existing one and re-taper it. Found that out on my 162 to 153 conversion. OEM 146 setups still used the 153 tunnel so I would get an aftermarket 146 bumper and cut your existing tunnel to match if you want it short.

Thanks for the feedback. I had tweaked the factory tunnel this year which is what lead into the swap and all.. I plan on just buying a 153 tunnel section and trimming it down

The riotx/hardcore 146 with alpha rail uses 9t 2,86 drivers with 19-50 gearing which seems to work well, for twin rail 146 tracks
the challenger extreme track is good allround there is also lynx shredder 3700 2023 track which is very similar to challenger extreme but slightly stiffer, for deepsnow performance its hard to beat polaris series 6 track its also spins lighter and runs cooler but spins alot on setup snow.
