There are some sleds being delivered to the dealers now so it should be just a matter of time before we hear. Anybody tearing one of these motors down as soon as it arrives to do some mods? If so measure them up and let us know.

the offset designation is new..havent seen that on any cfi-2 or 4 cylinder before..my guess is this cylinder is going to be slightly beefier then past cylinders..but till some one gets a look at one side by side with a 12 we wont know.........

Even if the skirts are thicker it won't help the 11/12 guys unless they get there cases machined to accept the bigger cylinders.

Just for information....

Stock 2012 cylinders are .250" thick at the skirts.. IMO, This is very thick. For reference, Ski Doo cylinders are .150" thick at the skirts..Cat 800 is .310" So, the Polaris cylinder skirts are not really thin..

The present BASE gasket mounting surface thickness (ie width of gasket that is present between the top of upper case and cylinder is .155" wide. IMO, this is already very narrow for a GOOD gasket seal, but I have seen other engines even more narrow. But as you narrow this up, you risk base gasket failure..Seen this many times with the big block 800 and massive porting..Definitely an area to be mindful of.

Point being.. if these new cylinders are simply thicker skirted (big "IF") and one would like to install them on the older bottom end, this base gasket ,lack of ,sealing width is going to become even more of a concern since it will become more narrow.
Something to consider.

I actually wasnt thinking skirts..but the entire cylinder surface, so that it hold shape better form from cold to overheated, thus allowing holding clearences tighter(thus taking the load off the piston and skirt)..but need to have a look at one before we can determine the diffs....

SO how would you like your CROW doubters??? I do NOT post BS - never have, never will. My sources are VALID as those that know me from Dootalk can attest.

I was one who did not doubt you, I want to believe this after all the 800 poo motors have gone through. I have one on order and have been on doo for more than 16 years and this motor and the suspension are my biggest worry. The next question after the confirmation is "What does this mean to us?" More reliability, more power or other characteristics such as fuel economy or changes to motor smoothness??? We all assume it must be for the better.
