141 to 153

Im thinking of extending my 141 to a 153. What the easiest way? Track and rail extension? Will I have tunnel issues? Heat exchanger issues?

Thanks for any input.

Mark

It would be a lot easier in the long run just to sell your whole skid, track, track shaft, and tunnel extension and buy the 153 stuff. You will need the 3.0 pitch drivers to run a 153 track. You maybe and I really mean maybe find someone who would want to swap their 153 stuff to a 141 set up plus cash, but that may be like finding a needle in a hay stack.

Just go to a 144" Camo Extreme 2.5". It bolts right up without modification. It's a 3.0" pitch just like what you have, so you don't have to change drivers. In fact, there's enough adjustment left for another inch or two of track length.

Or...you could just add short rail extensions and bolt a 153" right up. I had a 141" M7 skid on my RX-1 with a 153" track. Then I added longer extensions and ran a 162" track on the 141" skid just fine for several seasons.

That's odd... Lisa says you need to go longer, not shorter... :P. Ooooohhh....

Going from a 141 to 153 isn't a pitch change btw, both a 3.0.

true, I guess it depends on which year crossfire he has. I was just assuming it was an older crossfire with the 141 conversion already on it. But I guess you know what they say about assuming :face-icon-small-con

but if he had converted to the 141... he would have already had to have switched to the 3.0:face-icon-small-win

Either way... don't do it... long tracks are for meadow mashers & Nancies!

btw, to answer your question though, we need to know what sled it is.

and with a 9 inch big wheel kit the sky is the limit..

Sorry about that. The sled is a 2011 crossfire snopro.

So you've got 3" drivers, and a flat cooler.

you can go to a 153 if you can find extensions, you'd need to cut the flap off, and it'd spit a bit of snow at you here & there, but I've seen it done.

IMO after this coming up a few times lately what I'd do is go to the 146 2.5 CE track. A great track, a great happy medium length wise, and only change you'd need to make is getting 2.86 (I think that's the right number) drivers and a big wheel kit.

It would extend you to the end of your adjusters (you might need to dremel a bit of the adjuster notch to make it a tad longer), and the bigger wheels would stick out another 1/2" as well, so you'd gain some actual length, but you'd go from a good track, to a great track. The difference from a 2.25 PC to the new design 2.5 CE is huge. (just made that swap on my 12)

just did it on mine, all you need is rails and track...

i tied my snowflap up so it doesnt hang straight down. done deal

just tear the flap off now It wont last any way

In his defense though, doing this will let the track throw a chunk at the back of your head from time to time...:D

On the older 141's, it would still cover, but on the newer ones, the tunnel is shorter, and it'll throw stuff at you when the situation is just right.

How much of the flap do you remove? I already have cut the bottom section off.

Is there any cheap way to add to the tunnel with out doing a full extention. Im thinking of only adding 4 to 5 inches and using the stock bumper. Will the heat exchanger be ok in its stock location or should I move that back also.

Save yourself the headache and time if it breaks and just buy the extension.
