09's M series weight loss?????

Three questions for the all knowing M-series weight loss followers.

1) Why does the 09 M series only show a 7.5 pound weight loss, switching from the 07/08 electro/mechanical reverse to the new ACER for 09? It's been highly publicized that the 07/08 reverse added 10 to 11 pounds to the weight of the sled. BD-xtreme's reverse elimation D-drive is advertised to lose 10 to 11 pounds as well.

2) Why does the F series for 09 show a 9 pound savings for the same new upgraded ACER reverse?

I'm not biatching....just cerious. They edited my "*****ing" word so I had to adlib.

3) Cat is advertising 7.5 for the new reverse 3.5 for upgrades to the rear skid and 1.5 on the frontend. Where are the other 9.5 pounds of weight loss coming from? They don't seem to be mentioning additional weight savings areas. I'm assuming some of it is in the newly styled tunnel.

I've got an 09 with my name on it. How many months until September?

22lb is with out the spring order Boss seat , add the 8-9 pounds the seat saves and that = 29-30lbs weight loss for '09.

I think the rest of the weight came off the rear suspension and the track. Run a boss seat and you drop another 7-10 lbs and a mbrp can will knock off another 10-12 lbs which will put your 09 m8 around 40 lbs lighter than a stock 08 m8. The 08s are around 485 the 09s set up right will be around 440lbs on a cat scale or 350lbs if we weigh it on one of the scales that ski-doo uses.

The electrical reverse only looses 7.5 lbs is because they still use the big caseing for increased oil capacity just loose all the internal gears. Where as the reverse eliminatin is the smaller case.

440 lbs????????? after you spend how many thousand dollars????????

You could get a 09 m8 below 440lbs very easily for less than a thousand.
stock 460
can 11lbs - $250
boss seat 9 lbs - $500
Xtreme Diamond drive 10 lbs - $300
Grand total = 430lbs
total $= 1100

Maybe a little over a thousand.

engine reverse 8.0
front suspension 1.6
float skid frame 5.1
tunnel 4
racks/tunnel pad 1.2
misc .1

= 20 lbs
u can buy and add easy all but acer

front suspension is just new bushings

float skid loss is 1.5 lbs from 2 wheel kit and 2 lb from rails ,, dont know the differennce in that.. i think they are counting the cooler weight loss here to

tunnel is the rear half + cooler if they didnt take credit for that in skid oh and rear tail light

more details in the ac pdf linked many times.

is a can going to lose 11 lbs ? sounds high

A can isn't going to lose 11lbs and I don think the Bdx delete kit is going to work on the 09, if thats what your referring to. On the other hand there is still 8 lbs with an after market air intake to lose.

ac will also offer a reverse delete kit for 07 08 models, acer used existing dd case if you wanted to get those 8 lbs.

fergot about that,, its also mentioned in the pdf ,, some clutching changes are mentioned in the tail end of the 120 page doc

I have one on my 07 m1000 and I just changed the oil in it, it takes 4 oz compared to the stock 05-06 cases taking 3 oz, the 07 and up reverse cases are huge taking 12 oz of oil, The BDX kit also has a dip stick. Yes I know its not the exact same casing as the 05-06, what I said was its the smaller case.

Okay, so we've determined the reason for only a 7.5 pound weight loss on the 09 M-8/1000 is because they're still using the larger Diamond Drive case. This still doesn't answer the question why AC is advertising in their brochure (page 11) that the F series sheds 9 pounds, switching to the ACER. Page 31 states 7.5 saved on the M chassis.

Hope I'm not using too big of a spoon...just cerious about the weight difference.
